    This just in .......

Due to the Celtics recent 4 game winning streak (which has pushed their record to 17-42), Danny Ainge has pushed Scott Pioli out of the top 20

Danny Ainge must of been 21. We all know Pioli is only slightly better than Ainge.

"General managers were graded on two things: performance vs. the performance of their predecessor, and payroll relative to the league median when compared to their predecessor. Because winning is more important than payroll, Forbes.com double-weighted winning percentage to penalize a GM who cut costs but also hurt his team's winning percentage."

They used some formula to come up with this list. Pretty ridiculous results wise. Jerry Jones? Glenn Sather? Sure......

Seeing McHale and, most importantly, Billy King on any list of "Top GMs" discredits any list. Nevermind that NHL GMs were included...

AJ smith is the most rediculous one on the list. Someone who drives away almost all of his coaching staff gets to be thebest in the NFL not to mention there are guys who have sustaines success much longer and acheived more. As much as I hate to say it but Polian should have been ahead of him as well as a several others like Ted Sunquist(denver) and Ozzie Newsome(ravens) should be ahead of smith. I didnt even say Pioli because the list is bad enough without mentioning my bias(ild say he is the best:D ))

The only way that Pioli is so low is performance vs. predecessor. Although the team went down hill with Bobby Grier at the helm, the overall winning percentage for Grier was pretty good.

Look at the guys ranked before him. The Cowboys were one of the worst teams in the league when Jones bought the team and installed himself GM. The Timberwolves were the laughing stalk of the league when McHale became GM. The Bears sucked for a decade before Angelos took over. And so on.

I am thinking that it has to be Bobby Grier screwing things up for the Patriots yet again.

you're high, he followed the pats blueprint so calling him down is the same as calling down your own organization.

it's not AJ's fault he had to deal with the antichrist of head coaches.

It's just an awful list. They're basing the improvement part completely against the success of the guy before you, which is so non-sensical it hurts. Don Waddell, GM of the Atlanta Thrashers, is the only GM in their history so it's a mystery how they got a 195 index for him. McHale, who's a whole lot closer to being the worst GM around, got a very high mark because the guy before him sucked even more (and didn't have Garnett to cover up a decade's worth of mismanagement). It pains me that someone got paid good money to come up with this.
