Not a college football follower, but, with the introduction of harsher penalties for big hits and helmet to helmet hits, I can't trust Meriweather going forward, so feel we might need an extra free safety (better at coverage than Brandon) going forward.

As such, in an ideal world

1st rounder (Oakland's) OLB
1st rounder (Pats) Cornerback
2nd rounder (Panthers) Free Safety
2nd Rounder (Pats) DE

Realise it's 4 picks on defense, but think with the O line holding up, Brady still managing to spread the ball around, and BJGE + Woodhead developing at RB, we probably can afford to leave the offense to later round picks. Maybe pick up a RB and tackle/guard in round 3?

1a - RB mark ingram
1b - OLB akeem ayers
2a - OLB ryan kerrigan
2b - DE christian ballard
3a - OT gabe carimi
3b - SS tyler sash

I'm guessing Oakland pick 3-8. Too high for Ingram. We could always trade down. Board will be going schizophrenic. We could still get your guy. I think Trent Richardson his backup is a better player. I like the guys you picked. Not sure we need 2 lb's though. I'd take Kerrigan at 1b. Carimi isn't lasting untill Round 3 either. Many projections have him going in 1st round.

latest draftscout has carimi at rd 3 (as of 10/17) ... there are several guys who would fit the bill as an OL in round 3.

I don't have to have ingram, but I want an impact back. there are other guys out there (some fast short stumpy guy from syracuse, for example)

need to nail down the OLB position for the next 4 years.......roatation of ayers, kerrigan, and cunnigham would work.....would provide tons of ability in the passing situation 2 man front

I wouldn't be against drafting an olb with our top pick. I was leaning that way. But, our cb play opposite McCourty has been awful. I know Bodden is coming back. He's all right. I'm thinking if P.Peterson is that good. Allows BB to be a lot more flexible with his blitzes/coverages. I don't think we can go wrong with any of those positions.

Just have a feeling we'll trade for a rb. Like we did in 04. Maybe someone like D'Angelo Williams. He's a UFA. But, they can franchise him and deal him if CBA allows. Panthers already have J.Stewart to replace him. Seems like veterans pick up our offense easier than rookies.

I want them to draft a safety in the early rounds. Brandon Meriweather is not the long term answer and I think neither are Sander, McGowan or Page. Give me Clemson's DeAndre McDaniel. He is not the fastest safety out there, but he is instinctive, has good size and he is a good tackler.

1a: 3-4 DE J.J. Watt, Wisconsin or DE Nick Fairley, Auburn

1b: DE/OLB Ryan Kerrigan, DE/OLB Jeremy Beal or OLB Justin Houston, Georgia

2a: OT Anthony Castonzo or OT Gabe Carimi, Auburn or a stud FS*

2b: RB Allen Bradford, USC or trade for a vet RB or trade for a 1st next year.

Plug the new guy in at RT and move Seabass to LT when Light's contract is up. The OT crop this year isn't that good. That's why I'm predicting even some top ones fall to the early 2nd.

I don't like the RB class this year either, and USC players in general scare me a bit. So I hope a veteran stud is available for trade.

*Meriweather freelances too much. We can do better.

Hopefully, the Raider pick plummets and ours keeps rising. I don't think our binkie Fairley will be there at 28-32. I'm going to take a different route. We're going to have a terrific defense at the end of the day. And, I'm also taking a rb in Round 3. More of a skatback type. Like a N. Devine, S.Vereen, D. Locke.

I hope you'll free to update this as many times as you like, Bro, and go as deep into the draft as you like:

5 Defense + Front Wall players in the first 6 picks!! AWESOME!! :rocker:

And until now, I thought I was the ONLY guy chasing down 2 Flankers (OLB's) in the first two Rounds!! NICE.

1 - OLB Robert Quinn, UNC
1 - DE Nick Fairley, Auburn
2 - OT Gabe Carimi, Wisconsin
2 - C/G Stefen Wisniewski, Penn State
3 - S Ahmad Black, Florida
4 - RB Da'Rell Scott, Maryland
5 - QB Nathan Enderle, Idaho
6 - RB Brandon Saine, Ohio State

Size, position flexibility and serious pass rush potential for the front 7.
Fresh meat for Dante to turn into the next gen OL.
Ball-hawking DB with superior instincts.
2 RBs for the committee, both with track speed.
Annual late round QB shot in the dark.
Depending on comp picks, have at least one pick left over (probably a 3rd) to move around to get these guys or trade into 2012.

Preach it bro! I'm a big Ballard fan too. I bet he's a 1st round lock by next spring. The top few DL go very early.

that looks pretty good to me. is ingram still a top 10 pick ?

I think so. He's got that Cache, and while the Market is trending towards RBBC, and while Ingram's stock is under light fire, I tend to think there're enough GM's out there who're think they can jump start their teams with a dynamic TailBack.

Minor point: the word you're looking for is cachet.

A cache is the little "extra" space that Mike Vick had in that special water bottle of his. . . . ;)

Thanks, pal!! :lol2:

It'll be interesting to see how our needs evolve, over the next 6 months.

***

Defensive End

I am very excited about the potential development of Ron Brace and Brandon Deaderick, over the course of the rest of the season.

I'm gonna crawl out on that limb and say: I believe the currently inactive Mister Deaderick will not only become an integral part of the rotation, before very long, but will clearly project as an emerging starter, by the end of this Campaign.

Indeed, I believe that by the end of the year, Defensive End ~ which one month ago was a VORTEX ~ will prove, amazingly enough, to be a strength, with both Brace and Deaderick emerging as clear starters, with Warren I returning, and with Warren II and Wright proving effective situational Rush Ends.

This looks pretty prophetic at this point. Deaderick started on Sunday.

Flanker

Expectations for Jermaine Cunningham have dropped precipitously, since April, but you can count me squarely in the camp who thinks he's going to lock down one of the Flanker spots ~ OLB, to you Earthlings ~ by the end of the year. And if I'm right about that, Flanker suddenly isn't looking so bad, anymore. MIND you: I have never seen Cain as anything but a 3rd Down specialist, and Ninkovich is a guy I love, but who I don't want starting. Crable, I have high hopes for, but low expectations.

That's two for two.

Offensive Guard

I still hold out hope that we haul in Logan Mankins. Frugal, my @$$: I believe he BADLY misses the Game, and that he's going to come to his senses and rejoin us. And Kraft isn't the grudge holding type.

You can't win 'em all!

And I believe that Connolly is absolutely for real.

I've always liked Nick Kaczur, and I absolutely love the guy as a 4 Position Reserve.

Even Stephen Neal might extend his career, as a reserve, as that would greatly reduce the stress that I believe has been compelling his talk of retiring. And with Rich Ohrnberger emerging as I expect he will, I project us to have terrific depth at this position, 6 months, hence.

Nick to IR was a little surprising, although many others were predicting just that.

Center

Dan Koppen, on the other hand, has got to go.

Not to be an Hater: I actually think Koppen will turn it around and have a decent year.

But he just doesn't seem to have what he used to. And with the continuing emergence of 3/4 D's, featuring Godzillas at Nose Tackle, I believe that our chances of reemerging as The Alpha Team of the NFL would be greatly enhanced by a substantial upgrade at Center.

God only knows what Paul Soliai is gonna do to'm, this weekend!! A little help, here??

Yeah, Dan has looked a little over-matched at time this year. Although in fairness I think he was been giving help to Connolly at times.

Corner

As foreseen, the Secondary has been HORRIBLE.

But as the same folks who assured us, 3 weeks ago, that Coach Bill would somehow cover up for the dramatic lack of experience in our Secondary now scream in panic as they await somebody to drop the inevitable 60 Burger on us...

I remain confident that, within the next month or so, this crew will begin to gel...and that by year's end, they'll emerge as nothing less than a strength: McCourty, Butler, Wheatley, and Wihlite actually have the makings ~ once Bodden rejoins us, next year ~ of one of the best Secondaries in the league.

All they need is experience and coaching...And they are currently getting a boat load of both.

Arrington has been ok, but not great. McCourty is better than expected. No doubt the Bodden injury was the most significant.

Tail Back

Commanding the Line of Scrimmage + Tenacious D = Best Chance for Championships.

I don't give a damn if our feature Running Back can break off an 80 yard TouchDown...if our Front Wall can't Command the Line of Scrimmage and repeatedly goes 3 and Out.

On the other hand, if our Front Wall persistently drives the enemy before us, squealing in pain, horror, and humiliation, as our RBBC repeatedly gouges them with 5 and 10 yard gains...

The Championships...Will Follow.

Nothing would please me more, than to have a 100% overhaul, in 6 months, from the Opening Day Running Back Depth Chart of 3 weeks ago. Perhaps Green and WoodHead will form the nucleus of a new crew, with a couple of Picks and a vet ~ a young one, for the love of Christ!! ~ joining them.

Woodhead and BJGE have been better than expected as well. Woodhead is the real deal.

As offthegrid mentioned, Cunningham has continued to get better each game. Alot better actually. He looks like he could be the real deal at OLB. We've got a long way to go, but if he continues to improve, it may reduce the need for an OLB with the first pick like alot of people were thinking, and allow us to fill another hole.

1a. Either Nick Fairley or Da'Quan Bowers.
1b. Either Nick Fairley or Da'Quan Bowers.
2a. Either Justin Blackmon, Michael Floyd, Julio Jones, or Jon Baldwin if any fall.
2b. Either Mike Leshoure, Daniel Thomas, or Jimmy Smith.
