Watching "Braveheart", I got the idea for a thread. What are your top five worst movie deaths of all time? Here are mine...

    1. William Wallace (Mel Gibson) - "Braveheart"

    2. Nicky Santoro (Joe Pesci) - "Casino"

    3. Officer Alonzo Harris (Denzel Washington) - "Training Day"

    4. Casey Becker (Drew Barrymore) - "Scream"

    5. Santino "Sonny" Corleone (James Caan) - "The Godfather"

If I sit around long enough, I could probably come up with a top ten. What is your top five?

I guess I should expand on my choices for anybody that has been living under a rock and hasn't seen these movies...

Re: Top 5 Worst Movie Deaths

What is your beef with this death? Not violent enough or historically accurate enough?

You misunderstood me. Worst as in "most brutal".

Re: Top 5 Worst Movie Deaths

If you meant it to be "most brutal" you should have said that...

I'm terrible at making these kind of lists but the ones that stand out to me:

Billy Bats getting beaten beyond recognition by Tommy and Jimmy in "Goodfellas"

Still cringe at the murder of the guards by Hannibal Lecter in "Silence of the Lambs"

Bonnie and Clyde getting shot up by the police were nicely done and historically accurate(mostly)...20 years later and it would have been even more gruesome but not badly done for that era.

And always get misty at the death of Jim Malone in "The Untouchables"

Re: Top 5 Worst Movie Deaths

Good list. I didn't want to put "Goodfellas" in mine because I didn't want to weigh the list down with two Scorsese movies. I was hoping someone would mention it. Forgot all about "Silence of the Lambs".

Good list. Dels botched execution in "The Green Mile" is right up there and the "Psycho" shower scene is a classic.

Re: Top 5 Worst Movie Deaths

Different circumstances, different movie plot, different plot device...I'd probably have a bigger problem with it being the same two actors involved in both scenes, their roles just reversed

    Got another one...

    6. Kevin (Elijah Wood) - "Sin City"
    - Tied down, arm and leg limbs cut off, dog allowed to eat at severed leg limbs while alive, beheaded.

    Honorable mention...

Private Stanley Mellish (Adam Goldberg) - "Saving Private Ryan"
    - Knife pushed slowly through chest in fight for life.

You can find more information about your favorite movies at imdb.com of course. Good call on Tony Montana.

DUDE!! I was just thinking about coming into this thread an adding that. Good call. Tortured/ear cut off/shot. One could also make a case for Zed from Pulp Fiction, but then every "balls blown off" scene would be added. So I guess I'll make that another honorable mention. That part did have a great line though.

    "Whose bike is this?"
    "It's not a bike, it's a chopper baby"
    "Whose chopper is this?"
    "Zed"
    "Who is Zed?"
    "Zed's dead, baby. Zed's dead."

Jurassic Park 2 at the end when the Mother T-Rex teaches the Baby T-Rex how to kill and eat it's prey below deck in the ship...using that loopy scientist as the prey.

There are soooo many from the horror genre that they shouldn't even count. The Saw series alone could round out the top 5... so could the Rob Zombie flicks.

Yeah, I tried not to use that genre but I counted "Scream" in there because it wasn't a true "horror movie" in that sense of the word. It had elements of a comedy/satire to it as well. That death was just horrible: boyfriend gutted, stabbed in chest, throat slashed, hung from a tree and gutted.

Say NO to SAW movies. They are absolutely terrible. So were the two Hostel movies.

Scarface, handcuffed to the shower rail, chainsaw. Pretty brutal.
