Wow...talk about not showing up. Quinn made some pretty bad reads, Samardjia and Stovall didn't show, and the D was just plain bad.

On another note...The Ohio state QB is a stud!

No, too bad Charlie doesnt have a defense like he had in New England. And the ND offense was held in check thanks to a good Buckeye defense. This is the best defense ND has faced all year

Nah. They were just overmatched, especially on defense. He needs better players and he'll get them.

Not to beat a dead horse, but that was my contention all the time Charlie was here. His defense, and special teams, bailed him out MOST of the time.

However, I think he has done a great job at Notre Dame. He is perfect for the college game....and if his defense improves, he might just win a National Championship some day...

No doubt, hes got a good recruiting class coming in and if this continues throughout the years, he will have a good chance at a national championship

I think the month off killed this team they look dead out there. Ohio State knows how to prepare for layoff, Charlie just got schooled.

Notre Dame just isn't that good. Their big wins were over 7-5 Michigan and 5-6 Tennessee. They lost to 5-6 MSU at home. USC had a bad game and ND played them close, so everyone thought ND was good. I had money on OSU to cover...and they did.

But, under Charlie, they will get better. It's a miracle he got them to 9-3.

How do we know that USC had a bad game. They havent played anyone this year. Fresno St put up 42 on their defense.

USC is not going to roll over Texas like they did OU last year. and for all of those voters who had USC 05 beating Nebraska 95 are CRAZY. Exactly how is this USC defense going to stop Tommie Frazier and company?

Ohio State has a ton of speed. No more three yards and a cloud of dust for them.

College football is probably the most messed up sport there is. Imagine if the NFL now sent the 12 playoff teams back to training camp for a month and said they will start the playoffs in February? That is essentially what college football does after the regular season. It is why you see so many uneven perfomances from teams. You can never eally predict who is going to show up and who isn't becasue you can't tell how teams will react.

It is also a huge advantage for teams with tons of young talent because it essentially makes those players a year more mature as a player from the additional month of practice povided their coaching staff knows how to deal with it. That is why Florida State had that ridiculous bowl streak at one point.

USC is playing a lot of young guys on D and you can bet Pete Carroll is much happier having an extra month to work with them before they play Texas.

USC 04 >>>>>>>>> USC 05

95 Neb> USC 05
99 FSU > USC 05
01 Miami > USC 05

But i still say they beat the Horns.

Much like a certain team from Foxboro, their secondary was also their achilles heel all season. Their offense managed to compensate for that in all but one game this season in which they simply did not execute (Michigan State). Tonight was clearly another one of those games. Although Charlie didn't help matters when he went for it on 4th and 2 instead of taking the points in the first quarter of a tie game. The offense was just a hair off before that, like the month long bye didn't agree with them, but after that failed 4th and 2 they were totally out of synch.

Thing about a really weak secondary is, even if your offense begins to right the ship and rally as ND did in the 4th quarter, they can kill your momentum in a heartbeat. I was having mid season flashbacks.

It will be interesting to see what Charlie can do with that defense with a full season and 2 recruiting classes under his belt. The offense will only get better since most of them are returning.
