    Week 10, 2004: 4th Quarter.

    Indy 42
    Houston 7

Houston turns the ball over on downs after after an incomplete pass from David Carr to Jabar Gaffney on 4th and 4.

1st and 10: Manning throws to Harrison; incomplete
2nd and 10: Manning throws to Harrison for 13 yards
1st and 10: Manning throws to Wayne for 12 yards
1st and 10: Manning throws to Pollard INTERCEPTED by Peek

There are several obvious differences between this and the 2007 New England Patriots.

    1. New England would have taken Brady out of the game. (Peyton was never taken out)
    2. New England would have considered running the ball.
    3. Tom Brady would never have thrown that interception.

I don't have any problem with Indy trying to score points in this situation, but its funny how their fans claim that they never try to do this.

He Ban Me, who probably watched this game, is apparently claiming that because Peyton was intercepted, this doesn't constitute trying to run up the score. It wasn't a "4th quarter TD".

Perhaps we'll now hear about how Peyton deliberately threw that ball to the other team, thus clearly demonstrating his charitable nature.

another example of Peyton being complimented for his mistakes.

people can make anything look like anything

so since brady is a better QB, he is running up the score.

    Come on. Get over it...

The fact that other teams may run up the score doesn't erase the fact that Pats does too. And I don't have any problem with that.

Must agree with you. It becomes sickening...

Hey, HighHorse****, for you going to and looking at a play-by-play may take all night, but for most of us here, it doesn't take but more than a couple minutes.

    1. Colt troll claims that Colt's don't run up the score and posts link daring any Pat fan to show how Peyton runs up the score.

    2. I spend 10-15 minutes posting just one egregious example of this.

    3. Colt trolls complain that I waste too much time proving them to be hypocrites.

They then curl up the the fetal position recognizing that:

    a. Peyton Manning has been exposed as a fraud who can't perform at Jeff Garcia's level without a dome and an all star cast of receivers.

    b. Tony Dungy is a hypocrite.

    c. They have too many back loaded salary cap hits to even be favorites to win their division in 2008-2010.

One out of 16?? There was a game where the Colts were miffed by something the opponent did, maybe calling a T.O. (like Dallas did this year, late in game), but I don't think that is the one. Personally, I really don't care what NE does. What I do take issue with are the "excuses" or the "rationalizations" that go with it. It is pretty much fact that folks piled on Colts and Manning in '04. Now that NE and Brady have the weapons and ability to do the same, all the sudden, there are justifications for it. Would I do it? Probably not. Actually, I think the punt in the 4th at Buffalo was a pretty decent thing to do.

Back to Houston. I don't know what that motivation was, how much time was left, what they were working on, what any sub plots might have been. The funny thing is, you guys will hunt for ONE tiny shred of evidence, and run with it like it's their mantra for 16 games. PM has a couple of sub par games, and all the sudden, his previous 150 games mean squat. Silly stuff really.

Now, will the weather affect TB, RM, and Co. this week, or can I count on another 4-5 TD passes from your boy Brady??

Except that "running up" sounds unseemly and unusual. What many fans here are saying is that it's not unusual for teams when they have the opportunity.

What's happening is that the media has an image of BB, so they need to find things that fits the image and discard what does not. For example, they say BB is joyless ... so they need to ignore his expression in the Colts game; and if he looks happy over a big win, he would be considered rubbing it in more.

(This happens in politics too -- when Al Gore got the "exaggerator" image, he would get ripped even for using ordinary political-speak about "I took the initiative" or "I stood up for xxx." To be evenhanded, Quayle had the dummy image, so even jokes he made were reported as if said strainght.)

I would love to see just a few articles that substantiate this. My memory must be awful, you would think I would enjoy the media bashing the Colts.

The Patriots "piled on" the Colts in '04...Colt troll conveniently forgets every horrific beating the Patriots have given the Dolts
