Tommy Kelly scorches Patriots

They're looking towards the future. A 33 year old lineman isn't going to improve like saligna will.

You're better than that, Zeus. The "market" after the end of training camp?

Come on. Even Jets fans are better than that.

Thought he asked to be released. He got less money. Not a good move on his part.

Thanks for the insult though. I'm sure that made you feel good.

So, Kelly should've taken the Pats deal and been happy with it.

Or maybe there were better players on the roster. Time for Tommy to move on, the Pats have.

He's right, cutting Kelly to keep Vellano was a horrific move.

If this article is correct, think this guy must still have Raider brain. Half way through training camp, coming back from a season ending injury, his crystal ball tells him how much the Pats are going to use him and asked to be cut based on the Pats trying to save, in NFL terms, chump change by playing inferior players at a critical position? Even better, to be dumb enough to then blab to a Boston mediot about his prophetic abilities.

Kelly isn't your average DT, he keeps in great shape and works hard. "IF" he did ask to be released he should have asked. He was being pulled off the field for Vellano!! A freaking joke! Were they trying to limit his reps so he wouldn't reach his incentives?? Im not so sure about that, I mean its not much $$, Bill would have to be very cheap to worry bout that amount of $$. Still, who wants to be on the sideline while Vellano is playing, insulting. Vellano should be on a practice squad, if that

Kelly talked to the Arizona Cardinals website. Their story was then picked up by the Boston media.

Guess I missed that bit of the quote. Thanks for correction Miguel

LImiting his reps to give their First Round rookie, reps at his position makes sense to me. What did he think was going to happen? The Pats were going to give Easley some crayons and a coloring book, and tell him go sit on the end of the bench?

Sorry Marqui, your post makes no sense. If Kelley were still here, Vellano wouldn't have been; ,and Easley still would be getting reps.

Gee the run defense looked great last night! Why would the Patriots want him?

Another cheapskate move by the Patriots comes back to bite them...

he would not have made a difference last night.......

guess it's not enough to be on an undefeated team.......still have to look in the rearview mirror

for the veteran minimum price of $955,000 this season – more of a bargain than Abraham had been – Kelly has rotated in on 65 percent of the defensive snaps

Cardinals defensive tackle Tommy Kelly admitted earlier this season he asked to be released by the Patriots because he didn't like his playing time as it related to his incentive clauses...Kelly earned a $100,000 signing bonus to do the deal. Kelly would also earn a $955,000 base salary, a $50,000 roster bonus per game played and an additional $645,000 in playing-time incentives that were officially documented as "not likely to be earned," which meant they wouldn't count against the salary cap unless achieved.

*Note to self, don't hire Tommy Kelly as a negotiator for my next contract.*

So, include the signing bonus and 50k per game roster bonuses, and we pay him 900,000 more than Arizona without any of the 645,000 playing time incentives.

He must be an idiot to think he didn't lose a ton of money here.

And yet the news cycle is about how the Patriots are cheap and didn't want to pay Kelly. Go figure.

Wish the Patriots could get players like Tommy Kelly
