Tomase on Warfield...a good take

It's nice that Tomase talked to Warfield and his mother for that great article. In Boston it seems like it's a bonus whenever a reporter actually does work (with notable exceptions). Writers like Ron Borges could learn a few lessons from Tomase about actually talking to the people he writes about.

That's an excellent article.

Of course, whenever a team signs a new player, someone will try to develop a "feel-good" article out of it, but there really is a good story here (his mother sounds to be an exceptional person and it's great that he could use his football income to help her) and congratulations to Tomase for doing the work to get it.

(I know that his work has been discussed earlier for being derivative and for being unfair to BB -- credit where credit's due, John!)

Great background story! This is the kind of writing that is lacking in the Boston media for the most part. Very Riese-like!!!

yeah, it's extraordinary what one phone can do for an article.
but it IS one of the few pieces lately out of the boston print media that reflects SOME effort. they must each call one peripheral guyr for stories, who knows.
it wasn't too long ago that the best writers/reporters at el globo were in sports. amazing for a serious daily, but it fit at the time. might not happen again. dang sure ain't heppening now.

It seems easy to do..to make an effort, but realy how many of these slackers do?? Borges just stays away and hides in his office throwing darts at the Patriot organization and others are starting to follow suit. Reiss and Curran are much the other way, although MR is still mostly about facts and with an interesting tone. Borges and Cafardo can do the darts...much like Felger is warming up to do. Good for Tomase...!!! Hope more from him!!
