At this point for a mega superstar athlete like Brady, it is a reputation, respect thing, if that makes any sense. Not that Tom is competing for endorsements, but he is in some way competing for endorsements.
Last year when Forbes ranked Brady #52 (39 million in earnings for 2006) in the 100 most powerful celebrities stated that one Tom Brady endorsement contract = 2-3 Peyton Manning endorsement contracts. Tom and his agent have played if very very smart. Don't be over exposed so when you do decided to endorse a product, they pay through the nose to get you since you are a rare sign. People like Stetson will pay you big bucks or even Visa will pay you and also your lineman who each got paid (alot less than Brady, I am sure) because you are hard to get.
