Tom Brady/Matt Cassel. Doesn't matter.

Re: Tom Brady/Matt Cassel. Doesnt matter.

The difference between Brady and Cassel is simple

With Brady even if the defense sucks like it does they would still have good hopes of winning shootouts like 34-31 or 30-27 ect:

No Brady - no comebacks - easy to understand

This team will NEVER win a game that they are more then 10 or more points behind from - anyone want to bet against this?

Agreed. This defense knows with Cassel a comeback is not going to happen. Last year against the Giants, we were double digits down and the defense knew that Brady could still win the game.

Tom Brady/Matt Cassel. Doesnt matter. All I see is threads about Matt Cassel. You think brady would have saved us from the beating we took from miami? Not possible. Think brady could save us from the beating we took from san diego? Not possible.
Yeah, Cassel sucks balls. No question about it. But do you all really believe that a good qb can save you from a defensive massacre? From an o-line that looks like they all got the flu? Hell, even welker is dropping passes, and Bill isnt adjusting.
This entire team has problems. Dont think your hero's return could magically make it all better.
Are you serious? You don't think that Brady could have kept us competitive in this game? It's not like the defense never stopped San Diego at all. No doubt, if he did it would have turned into a shoot-out, and I'm not saying we absolutely would have won, but I think you're off your rocker to suggest brady-or-Cassel doesn't matter.

It really matters if Brady was here. The fact of the matter is Cassel can't do sht. You put a lot of pressure on 'old and slow' D and ask the special team to help you while your O really sucks.

Cassel inherited a DREAM team from TB and he turned it from being the top to 'nearly' the bottom in 2 months. He can't lead the team.

Really -- the defense played bad because Tom Brady wasn't in there?

You know, at some point, you just have to believe what your eyes tell you. Even during preseason the defense was terrible. They play well against average teams and made a nice adjustment against the 49ers, but it's been pretty much the same thing every week. Yes, they beat the Jets, mainly by bucking up and bending but not breaking, and were lucky to play a team with a new QB adjusting to the offense.

This defense has very serious problems. Very serious. The middle of the field has been wide open all year and they seem to have trouble both playing coverage and getting pressure at the same time.

Can a great offense mask problems or defense or simply win games by outscoring the opponent? Sure. Would Tom Brady make the difference between winning and losing in any given game? If you guys want to spend 100 posts arguing about the unknowable, have at it. The reality, though, is that with this defense this team has a serious weak link and is susceptible to major problems every single game it plays no matter who is on offense. Cassel is not very good either, but there seem to be an awful lot of people who psychologically need to pretend our defense is better than it is to make points one way or the other about Cassel.

a dream team? really? with that defense???

and 3-2 is nearly the bottom??

thanks for sharing.

a dream team? really?

Look at what O accomplished with TB last year. Look at it right now with Cassel.

Our kicker scores more points than Cassel who stinks and sucks.

is that all you see? O ranking is currently ranking nearly at the bottom. We had 21 sacks last year. We have nearly 20 sacks in 5 games.

thanks for sharing.

You are welcome and I hope you learn something today

The team could be 5-0 with Brady. Why? Brady - like he did LAST YEAR - can lead the offense to bunches of points. The Pats defense wasn't all that last year either - they were better - but not great. Run d good. Pass d poor. Ring a bell? With Bardy putting points on teh board quickly - the opposition may be forced to as wll - and bingo! You have a defense that looks - but really isn't.

Look at the offensive jump from 06 to 07... we had Brady both years. Damn Brady sucks, it was all the receivers!

A different year, a different team, a different NFL.

06 TB didn't have any 'receiver'. We are different all right with Cassel.

We need a lot of NEW blood next year to go with Brady and co. I hope we have 3/4 new starters on the team.
And PLEASE don't tell me the Pats can't do this. Other teams have done this for years. Draft better
