Stats be damned. His receivers were flat out awful, dropping everything in sight, the wind was bad, the sleet and rain was worse, and he wasn't as accurate as normal, but despite all that, he made one bad decision all day (the pick), and outside of a nice effort by Maroney was the only thing keeping the offense moving at all. He put the ball where it had to be when it had to be there, and made the big throw to Moss at the end, and his stat line would have been a lot better if not for his receivers completely sucking the whole day.

(On a similar note, Seymour FINALLY looked to be getting back to his old self. It's been too long since he dominated a game by himself.)

You're insane. He was making some really, really poor decisions, going to Moss way too often when everybody else was open and the wind was killing long passes. He also received outstanding protection. Yeah, the weather sucked, but Brady got outplayed by Pennington.

You know, it's not sacrilege to say that Brady played bad. It doesn't matter, he's still awesome and we still won, but you don't have to make excuses for him because he really doesn't need them.

Brady sucked. But so did the WR and the playing calling. It's not all on Brady, but the offense stalled today. Hopefully they will get back on track next week against the Jets. Brady and Moss HAVE to break those TD records.

I'll say Brady played bad when he does. The entire game I was thinking how well Brady was finding guys, and how often they let him down. He did key in on Moss too often early, but worked past that and started distributing the ball well. There were at least 9 drops by his receivers today, Gaffney being the worst. He SUCKED. I stand by my assessment that Brady had a great day, and if his receivers had bothered to catch the ball at all, his stat line would have been much, much better.

It certainly wasn't a pretty game, but it doesn't need to be pretty as long as the W is in their column at the end of the game.

Brady's worst game to date. Felt he forced it to Moss a lot. Still we won the game. I think it's a one-off.

With those results, there's NO WAY he had a great game.

Claim, if you like, that it wasn't as pathetically horrible as it looked. But no way was it better than blah.

I'll claim whatever I like, thanks. And I say he had a great day, damn the results. He made everything happen in that passing game despite awful receivers and spotty protection. People will say he had great protection, but aside from that one long pass to Moss he missed where the offensive line stoned the Jets' pass rush, they didn't look too great to me. Most of the time Brady was throwing off a three step drop, and the Jets were still forcing him to step up and make throws quickly. The near sack he turned into a completion to Welker late in the 4th to keep that drive alive was huge.

Well...Brady didn't have a good game today, but he tends to get his one bad one out of the way late in the regular season, right? I don't see it happening again.

I wouldn't blame it on the receivers this time. The Philly and Ravens games -- yes, the receivers dropped a lot of passes. Brady just was off the mark this week. I say this despite being a complete homer.

Which leads me to say...yep, we're still 14-0.

Sorry Richter, but more of the passes were bad decisions by Brady than they were his receivers dropping the ball. Now, that is NOT to say they don't have any blame. They do. But so does Brady. The pass to Moss in the endzone when he had Welker and Stallworth open for 10 yards and 20 yards respectively is just one example.

I don't get how you can't blame it on the receivers. Everyone of them dropped the ball at least once. Gaffney was atrocious, dropping everything thrown his way, including multiple on target throws that would have resulted in first downs. Moss missed a pair, Welker muffed three I believe, Stallworth had one deep he should have caught. Kevin Faulk was the Pats' best receiver today. Coupled with the numerous false starts that killed several promising drives, including one awful one in the red zone, and I think Brady was terribly sabotaged by his teammates today. Maroney, thankfully, saved the Pats' bacon.

I would totally agree Brady keyed in on Moss too much early, but that still doesn't excuse the numerous, terrible drops. How many passes were in the receivers' hands that were flat out dropped? Nine? Ten? It was a huge number. I was disgusted with the receiver play today.

Sorry, but it wasn't nearly as bad as you make it out to be. Yes, they had drops, but Brady had many more bad passes than the receivers had bad drops..

Well, we'll just have to agree to disagree. I counted probably 5 poorly thrown balls, 1 bad decision, and 9 drops, at least.

"Have to break those records?!?!?!" What the heck is this... fantasy football?!?! "You play to win the game!"

Pats have done so 14 straight times. I don't care if Brady goes 0-20 with 5 picks, as long as NE's got more points when the show's over.

I fully agree... I don't care about the records (well, I do a little, just because I like the idea of expunging Manning from the top spots), just the W's. I just thought Brady played extremely well given the conditions, and wanted to state it, even in light of the fact that I knew people would be saying he sucked. I'm more mad at the terrible receiver play than anything. But I thought it was a good win overall, the defense was largely dominating today.

That is the only context in which you are allowed to call me Herm. LOL

Hold your ground, even vs. DB. Great might be an overstatement, but he wasn't the problem and given the grief he's collecting from the nitwit fringe, he deserves some over the top support. His receivers have had at best spotty focus of late, and teams are throwing the kitchen sink (to whatever extent they have one) at this offense down the stretch. He did seem to be focused on Randy early, and Randy hasn't been quite as dominant of late. They weren't doing a great job of getting really, safely open either. And when he tried to zip a few in before coverage closed, they couldn't catch a stinger. That's what makes the QB want to go back to Moss single covered - because it's been a high percentage play.
