Volkswagen L1 Concept on Yahoo! Autos ? Pictures, News

240 mpg's, and you don't have to plug it in.......but at 100MPH the mileage goes way down......to 170mpgs

    Government
    Motors

    behind the curve.......yet again......

when the economy finishes turning around, GM should just be euthanized

They knew that when they touted the 240MPG.

That is the full production schedule...limited production starts next year.
VW 1-Liter tandem city car tipped for 2010 production - MotorAuthority

The time lag could be getting it to be "acceptable" for US highway standards without losing too much fuel efficiency. It will be out there on the open market next year, at a premium price, but still out there.

Old news though...it's been in the works since 2002, well before GM went under and Chrystler was un-merged.

Isn't it a good thing that several vehicles can get such high mileage?? If memory serves me correctly, competition is a good thing...

Look at what happened after the Honda Insight came on the market a decade ago...you get the Prius and all the other 30 and 40 MPG hybrids of today.

Yes. Everyone makes them now, Honda beat everyone to the punch with a marketable car and then Toyota got one that was as good and cost less to maintain and replace parts for....now everyone has to make one to stay competitive and keep up leading to new innovations on their own.
