Brady like Manning has to carry a team through a whole season. Its just like having to much riding on a pitchers shoulder. When they have a bad game and give up a few homers and they lose 2-1.Everybody says they suck when they won 25 games during the year.

I personally hope to hell there comes a day in the near future when we can say that the defense carries this team. When 14 for 25 and a TD in a 13-10 win in the playoffs than this crap everyyear.

Defences are alway better in the playoffs except ours and the Colts.
But at least our QB's are on the cover of SI in October.

Montana had 3 straight clunkers in a row.

Yankees choked against the d'backs in the world series and rs in 04 but bounced back in '09 with a world series.

can't win every year. As fans all we can hope for is that our team competes for a championship and the pats did that this year. we had a shot and there's still time to win at least one more before the brady/bb era is over.

I know this hurts but it'll get better as the weeks go by.

We have six picks available to us in the first three rounds. I fully expect the rebuilding of the front seven to be done going into next season as well as a reshuffling of the interior O-Line.

We expect Brady to make the reads and make a good throw. We expect BB to select the right players, prepare them well, have a good game plan, and make the right in game decisions. We expect BJGE to hit the holes and run hard. We expect Welker and Branch to run their routes and catch the ball. We expect Wilfork and the Dline to fill their gaps. Etc etc etc etc. This how the Patriots work. Everyone has a role and some are bigger than others. The QB role is almost always the most important role on the field. Manning and Brady make about 18 million a year because their roles are so encompassing. This is not going to change. Fyi, the defense DID bail out the offense/Brady a couple times this year.....remember the O not getting the needed first down against Indy and the D coming up with the end up the game stop???

I know everyone is smarting over this but put it in perspective. BB and Brady et al got the Patriots a shot at the big game unlike most teams. They do this almost year in and year out. It didn't work out this year and BB made mistakes. Brady made mistakes. Others did too etc etc. Congrats to the Jets, take a little time off, get back and do some self scouting, use the draft and offseason to assemble the team, get prepared for next season, then watch as the Patriots are back again next year giving itself a shot to win it all unlike 90% of the rest of the teams. What city is the SB in next year??? :)

You think the DL needs rebuilding? We got Warren and Wright (hopefully) coming back. We got one or two young guys that showed some promise. I'm not so sure the DL needs rebuilding versus adding one solid guy.

You don't like the line up of '1 solid addition' with Wilfork, Warren, Wright and the best two young guys?

I don't think anyone's job should be safe after this game.

I've been at loggerheads with Deus Irae in regards to the Richard Seymour trade and the sum outcome of that once the pick transpires.

Right now that Oakland pick can go to hell. Seymour would have made an immeasurable difference the past couple of seasons.

The Seymour trade is still making me cringe, and I want him back. But if we get a stud in the draft (~10-20% of happening?) I'll like the trade, but till that I can't help but think we'd win a few more games with him in the line up.

Honestly, the further it plays out the worse it looks for the Patriots. We've wasted 2 home playoff games and struggled to develop a consistent defensive line promoting depth members to starters. Wilfork is being left to carry the load himself. The beast needs some quality help.

At some point BB is going to have to stop hoarding and coveting draft picks and just stick with what he's got. It's a great strategy and has put the Patriots in a very strong position but I fear we're now missing prime Superbowl runs.

Richard seymour trade had no effect on this game.. but the illl preparements of belichick and brady caused this game to be lost...

I didn't say that. What I said was that I believe we'll go into next year with the front seven fully rebuilt, as in done. As for the DL, I wholeheartedly believe that we need to pick a DE early. Sure, Ty Warren is coming back. But by all accounts, that knee injury he suffered was pretty devastating. On top of that, hip injuries are particularly bad for D-Linemen that play two gap discipline. On the other side, Brace has done a more than admirable job filling in against the run but, ideally, he's someone that we would want to line up as a DT next to Wilfork in the 4-3 (sort of the way the Ravens use Cody). We need someone that can come in on first, second, and third downs and can be a force against the run, take up two blockers, and be a presence in the pass rush the way Seymour used to be. After that, I think we need to add an OLB who can also be a presence in the pass rush and is able to consistently set the edge (unlike Ninkovich and TBC).

The Jets were making a living running away from Vince Wilfork. The Richard Seymour trade had a decidedly big effect on this game.

Too much riding on Brady's shoulders?? Or it is a case where the NFL has figured Tom out and if you hit him he's happy feet and off his game for the rest of the night?? Tom Brady has not played well in the last 3 playoff games. Even in '07 when they were winning playoff games Tom's game was not overpowering. What is most troubling is how the Jets ran their mouths and directly challenged Brady and he had no response. He was lousy all night long.
There is a lack of mental toughness and grit with Brady that was present earlier in his career.

Brady is the only reason anyone was remotely considering a possible Super Bowl run this year. I just don't see the point of throwing him under the bus when the defense got to rely on him scoring so many points all season. He didn't have a very good game. He also didn't have a game that was so catastrophic that good defense and special teams couldn't have overcome it. This was not the 2004 regular season game against the Dolphins. He never directly threw the game away. That INT didn't result in points on the board for the Jets. Alge's dropped TD could have been a huge difference down the stretch.

The collective performance was poor enough that if somebody like Aaron Rogers had been the opposing QB it would have been an absolute blowout. That they only lost by one score is somewhat shocking considering the team as a whole did next to nothing until they had already cost themselves too much time.

Not true! Our Receivers make plays after the catch and our RBs don't turn the ball over. Our O-Line is solid. Our Defense did well with turn overs.
Yes Brady is great but he is only part of the reason.
