Now that this season is for all practical purposes over, Belichick and Pioli have some serious decisions t make. Do they sign Graham? Do they make a big play for a WR? They still make make the playoffs, but they are one and done in the playoffs if they can win the division.

Two draft picks, Seattle's in mid 20s and Pats in late teens, early 20's, should help fix the glaring holes in this team for the future. They've got to get some defense, especially DBs and LBs in this draft. The good news is the draft looks deep at both positions.

Since this team won't be in Miami in February, maybe it woudn't be the worst thing in the world for this team to miss the playoffs, hope for a Seattle collapse, and get two rather strong picks. I guess we'll have to see what happens.

This edition of the Patriots is a wildcard 1 round and out team. If they don't draft some damn DB's and if McDaniels doesn't figure out how to coach an offense then the run is no doubt in my mind OVER.

A stupid, stupid statement. If you are the sort of fan who gives up when your team faces any adversity, you should just quit. Give up sports. Completely. There isn't a team which can satisfy you, and most rational people don't want to listen to you.

What as a**hole statement this is.

Now, I don't think much of the team right now, but they are making the playoffs. This should be as low as it gets.

Agreed completely. Jacky, I don't see how you can say the "season is for all practical purposes over." We're 9 games in and we have 7 left.

Yes, we played awful today. But it was a single game, and we have 7 left to improve our team come playoff time (and yes, we will win the division).

I am amazed at how many of you give up on the Pats so god darn quickly. I have long respected your intelligent posts, Jacky, but you need to take a step back right now and think about what your saying. We're barely half-way. Calm the hell down, people.

There's a lot of fans out there that I thought were much more faithful than they've shown to be. I"m surprised, and especially dissapointed.

    Just one mans opinion..

Obviously Jackie was being stupid. But he is right that our DB blow. Yes, Hobbs, you blow. And Samuel is about average. Certainly not a $10M/year CB. We need a pro bowl caliber CB from somewhere. These guys aren't good enough, not even close. I can't think about them stopping Driver and Jennings next week when they can't cover Cocher-f*cking-ry.

As mindnumbingly upset and disappointed as I am about this game, I'm more upset at the fact that this team mailed in an effort after the Indy loss. It tells me this team is mentally weak and has no chance at a Super Bowl. You would have to have serious brain damage to still think this team has a shot at a championship. This team's window has closed and its time to think about the future.

I don't think the season is lost. I think the team has improved tremendously in the areas that were identified as weaknesses:

WR: excellent. I am very happy with Gabriel, Reche, Jackson, and now Gaffney. Troy Brown is a plus.

LB: I think they are stable...Bruschi needs to come out of the 'just one of 11 guys' funk.

DB: Played better today than in game 1 vs. the Jets.

RB: Corey was amazing, and LM played a bit tentatively, but ok.

The only major area of concern is Brady. He was consistently behind or off the mark with his throws. I don't know what he needs to improve, but I wouldn't blame the receivers.

Brady's accuracy is awful this year. His completion % is down, and most blamed the WR's, clearly Brady is the reason this team is falling apart at the seams. Back to back weeks at home, Brady has had the ball with less than a minute to go with a chance to win/tie. Both times, he turned the ball over. Clutch? Yeah, right.

    patsfans.com never fails to deliver.

6-3, leading their division and the season is over? What a joke.

The Patriots need help to get a bye, that's it. They still control their playoff, and ultimately, Super Bowl destiny.

The Jets played a good game, a good team with a good QB and deserved to win, that happens sometimes in division games, it's not the end of the world and certainly not the end of the season.

Also, if you have season tickets then I totally agree with you the season is over, so I'll buy those season tickets from you to help ease your suffering.

You guys sound like a bunch of Sox fans.

This team is 6-3 and has not played close to its potential. Plus, to think that Brady has been the biggest inconsistency.

The glass has to be half full, folks. Over the next 2 months it is imperative that this team continue to improve and find its identity. They need to learn to mix the run and the pass more efficiently. For the 2nd week in a row they did not exploit the run properly.

Also, Brady completed 68% of his passes, but totally missed on a half dozen more.

The D has been good and will only get better when the "O" starts eating up the clock and giving them leads to protect while making the opposing "O" one dimensional.

To say we are playing for 200 is absurd. BUT, there is still much work to do in 2006, starting with a tough trip to GB next week.

Sorry, I disagree with you. The only team that is marginally strong that this team has beaten is Cincy. Every other good team they've lost to (at home, too). This season is toast.

Get a grip of yourself. Teams change, improve. The Steelers were a piece of crap and barely made it into the playoffs last year.

Do me a favor and stop the whining. You guys sound like 10 year old schoolgirls. There is no doubt in my mind that we will improve. I knew we were spoiled. But jeeze, I didn't think that the second we face adversity half you guys would consider the season 'toast'.

No they don't. The Colts, Broncos, and now the Ravens are ahead of us.

If we can't beat "good QB" Pennington and the Jets we aren't going very far in the playoffs.

i have two problems with your premise. One, it's way too early to give up on this team. they have too much talent and too many pieces in place to write them out of playing important games in late January. They might want to take a hard look at how the offense is being gameplanned and coached, but let's wait for that one. Second, the AFC East isn't going to be any easier in 2007. In fact, the Jets and Dolphins are showing that it might be one of the toughest divisions in the league next year. So, let's make the most of we can this year when our chances of winning it are still in the 90% range.

Didn't you say that if the Pats kept losing you were going to stop being a Pats fan? Well they lost two in a row...time for you to go root for your real team and get the hell off this board.

This board is getting full of Jackyasses. EVERYTIME the Pats lose a game it isn't "boy they sucked" and comment on bad play it is all "the season is over" bull****. EVERYTIME. Of course it is trolls like Jacky that relish whenever the Pats do lose so they can come here with thier doom and gloom.

Hey there is no problem with pointing how Brady is throwing bad passes and things, but the "season is over" while we are leading the division still by a game and a half is RETARDED!!!

People do realize that we were missing Rodney Harrison, Ty Warren, and for much of the game, Richard Seymour, AKA our three best defensive players. The offense is disconcerting, but how can you read anything into a game where you are missing your 3 best defensive players?

This was a tough loss, but the season is not over! This team can still make the playoffs and once that happens, anything is possible!

Too many good pieces in places with too many games left to give up. The playoff seeds are never handed out in November.

Patience, people, patience. I admit that games like this can effect home field chances at the end of the year, but we have to deal with it.

Brady is in a slump, it won't last 4ever. Plus, look at the stats. He had a "bad" game for him and still completed 68% of his passes.

The offense needs to find an identity, some consistency.

The Gabriel fumble was the TSN Turning POint in this game. Momentum took a huge shift. Yes, it was only the 2nd quarter, but the momentum totally swung.

i just posted a thread sayingthis was very bad loss and there was no lipstick that could be put on this pig.

But to post a thread saying the season is over is just being a dumbass. This board has too many people who go to extremes and can't be happy unless they are unhappy.
