If you happened to listen to 98.5 Sports Hub yesterday faternoon around 4:45 you got to hear Felger dissing PatsFans.com, especially the Message Board! One long time poster dared to disagree with Felger (the contrarian)! Who the heck does Felger think he is? The blow in from Wisconsin was also ripping Gaspar for not asking the tough questions to Claude Julien. Who died and made him king?

So.....what was his issue?

What's a Felger?

What's a Felger?
Is it that bristle you wipe your boots on after coming out of the stable?

ok, maybe a bit strong, but why would someone in the media really say something that negative about a message board. The fact that it's made up of people with differing points of views means you'll probably find people who don't support your point of view. Rarely, will it be the majority of posters, so why call a site out like that.

Felger is only as relevant as you make him. Apathy is a more powerful weapon against him then fury.

I think the original spelling is Felcher. Look it up.

(Archie Bunker voice): "Whatevah"

(old folks will get that one).

who cares if he was any body he would not have to talk about a Message Board... he does the same thing we do on this bord only he has a bigger soap box to state he's opinion on. anyone on this bord could do he's job and maybe even better

In actuality, though TV & Radio are still pulling in reasonable revenue, they ARE taking a hit with new media, and sites like this.

Competition means Felger isn't quite as comfortable in his position as he once was. With more folks going online to non-traditional sites for news and opinion(s), that can result in loss of revenue. Felger HAS to fight back, as will others, though a reasonable man would simply try and find better ways to present his material than to take on a message board, ESPECIALLY iof such actions tick off the fans of those sports venues that HE makes his living reporting on.

But yeah, just ignoring him is a better way of handling it.

In the meantime, we have over 19,000 registered members (and multiple times more guests) here and he needs numbers and attention.

People come here for Pats news and analysis before they go to Mr. Blowdryer. Ian runs this site for free as a hobby. How does that realization sit with him (or, more importantly, his employers)?

He's a poor man's Zip Rzeppa and would pull out his own molars live on tv if that would guarantee him ratings.

All noise and no substance.

One must wonder how much our membership here on patsfans.com has increased since his plug for us.

Once again, a lesson in unintended consequences. :rocker:

There are all kinds of people on patsfan.com who know a great deal more about football and the Patriots than Felger does. Why his comment should have any influence is a mystery to me.

Who is this Felger you speak off???

lmao-Felger has made his name in Boston by playing contrarian knowing this is what inflames fans and he gained his ratings by getting people to call in to argue with him, unlike WEEI where the hosts tend to be homers and people call in to generally agree. Everything he says is designed to get people up in arms and drive them to listen to him and call in. While i think he is one of the most intelligent talking heads he wastes that quality by always playing contrarian and foregoing intelligent takes to piss people off and drive ratings higher. this thread plays into his hands completely.

...this thread plays into his hands completely.

How? Does he have a ratings meter here where he gets paid for the number of times his name is mentioned? No wonder you think he's intelligent. Yikes.

Maybe I am mistaken but i thought the point of this thread was to get people to "take on Felger," which implies that posters here should tune him in and call him up, if so that does boost his ratings as this site has more Patriot fans than any other and that can lead to more listeners and more callers, which is just what he wants.
