I guess I'm one of the last,or the last, poster on this board to give up on Biesel.

At the beginning of TC I thought that he would do an adequate job this year at ILB. That hasn't happened. I thought maybe he had an injury holding him back, it doesn't look that way.

After last night and seeing him not evef being on the starting ST's. I came to the conclusion that he will not make the team.

I will not, however, agree with those who say he is scared and not tough enough.

He may be able to hook on to another team as a DE/OLB and contunue his carrer. I wish him luck. He just didn't have it in the Patriots defensive schemes.

Nothing wrong with Standing up for what you believe in Bud.I was on the Beisel Bandwagon for quite some time. But there really does come a point when ya gotta make the call and realize He may very well be a good player.Just not on THIS Team.

I have been in that camp as well..thinking he would come around..and IT DOES take time..but..he's definitely not getting better..AND that is the problem. If he were at a certain point and not getting better..but NOT worse..that isn't as bad as moving backwards and just playing worse every game. I'm not sure what it is..but he just doesn't have it. My guess his bubble bursts in a week.

I was also hoping Beisel would be the top special teamer and backup linebacker he was signed up to be.

Patsnut, you didn't put Beisel's name in the title. That's why somebody started another thread.

If he does get cut, then I'll be joining you in eating crow. Oh, the joys of publicly going against the majority opinion.

You're a stand-up guy, NUT.

I think it was me you were disagreeing with earlier and I said, let's revisit this after Game 6. Still some way off, but it doesn't look good for Monty right now, though.

Anyway, if you ever regret getting a prediction wrong, all you have to do is look at your signature. That one seems to be on track, doesn't it?!!!

Its way too soon to be saying that Beisel is going to be cut. As I said, he seemed solid in the 2nd half of the game. And, while Ichiro gave his comments, that isn't what I saw from Beisel. I saw a solid (read average/Mediocre) back-up who also spent time on special teams, though it was the 2nd unit.

If/When Beisel is cut, then I will admit that I was wrong. Not before then.

I will put my reputation on the line as an astute observer of football talent and predict that we will be seeing a very improved Monty Biesel this year.

He will not be a Pro Bowl player be he will do an adequate job as ILB. Good enough to take our concerns away.

You have real class PATSNUTme. Not that you need any comment from me, but I look forward to many more posts. Always observations worth some real thought. Thanks. Only time tells in so many cases.

If I may, I'll join you in wishing Beisel good luck. When BB/SP signed him, I thought it was going to be another of their coups. Too bad it didn't work out.

I thought maybe he might stick as a ST specialist. I suppose there is still a chance of that, but it doesn't look promising if he was not in for the first half for that either.

Cheers

I can't remember any player since I've been here, take such constant abuse on this board over and over again, as has Mr. Biesel.

Strange things happen in life and football. So, if he should remain on the team and gets a second chance at ILB, I hope that all the people who really questioned not only his ability but his courage will come forward and "man up", should he end up doing a decent job.

But, as of now, the reality is that it probably won't happen.

Ken Walter, Rohan Davey, Duane Starks, to name but three

You're right, though I too think that it is unlikely.

Nor has he shown a particularly great attitude (shouting at (I think) Tom Curran and Stacey James). But that doesn't matter. He's a Patriots player and he deserves respect. It's fine to criticize players, but I think that thread titles like "See ya later Monty Beisel" or "Cut Caldwell he can't catch a cold" are shameful.

Starks sure get dumped on. But, while he was getting it Monty was also getting it. The berating of Starks was over by 3/4 of last season when he was put on IR. Monty's continued all season , into the off season, and this years preseason.

I don't ever recall Stark's having his courage questioned. I don't recall Starks being call stupid.

Davey and Walters did get it but no where near what Starks or Monty got.

Now it looks like Caswell will be the next whipping boy, unless he has a good first game. Then all of the back stabbers will become great fans.

Pass the crow, as I need some too.

I thought once Bruschi returned he was okay last year. Not great, but with Bruschi directing, he could be serviceable as a weak side LB and special teams guy.

Looks like that's just not the case.
