Usually this is a pretty exciting game and I am surprised this has not started already, but hey, better late than never.

Usually we use cbssports rankings so here is a link

    NFL Draft - 2013 NFL Draft Prospects - CBSSports.com - NFLDraftScout.com

    patriots picks are:
    29,59,91,226,235

As usual, in the 1st you can pick someone 3 spots higher (26) rounds 2 and 3 5 spots higher and after that up to 10 spots higher. You can go back as far as you want

    Here is my 1st attempt.
    29. Alec Ogletree, OLB
    59. Justin Hunter, WR
    91. Brandon Williams, DT
    226. Duke Williams, SS
    235. DJ Hayden, CB

Now, I showed you mine, so lets see yours.

I have no feel for this draft in any way so I am underwhelmed by my confidence in what could happen.

My needs, in order, are : WR, CB, DT, WR. With our lack of picks I don't need to go further than that.

29 - Jonathan Hankins. As Vrabel was the OSU DL coach Hankins will likely be high on our board or off it completly. Others I considered are Allen, Hopkins, Banks but I like Hankins versatility.

59 - Markus Wheaton. Not the biggest, nor a super burner but I don't think we need either specifically. Wheaton should be a good outside WR, is a ton faster than Lloyd and taller than Branch ever was.

91 - Blidi Wreh-Wilson. Bill seems to want to lenthy CB all of a sudden and Wilson has length both at height and arms. I was bound and determined to take a CB with one of these top three with Talib signed for just one year, Dowling (well, you know), and Dennard only having played half a year.

226 - Marquess Wilson. Yes, I know. But we're in the 7th round and his talent makes him worth the shot.

235 - Dustin Hopkins. I would take Hayden, per the rules, but I must keep mine fairly realistic just so I can sleep at night. I like Gostkowki enough but he's due $5.5M combined the next two years so I'll save over $4M and try again at kicker.

    #24 Jersey

    With added UDFAs

    #29 DeAndre Hopkins

    #59 Markus Wheaton

To my mind the two receivers most likely to succeed early. If both these picks work out, we'll have one of the best receiving corps in the NFL.

    #91 Blidi Wreh-Wilson

Tall CB and a good fit.

    #226 Miguel Maysonet

    Good Woodhead replacement.

    #235 Kayvon Webster

More CB depth. Webster is fast.

    UDFA

    Jordan Kovacs - Perfect Pat

Derrick Washington - Now one of my favourite prospects. 3 down RB.

Courtney Gardner - Big fast WR. Plus he can really block.

Kapron Lewis-Moore - BB has been looking at 6-4"+ DT's. Always impressed by KLM's game.

Mike Catapano - Keep replenishing the DE position.

Jeff Tuel - We've looked at him and I like both his intelligence and skillset.

I'm coming around to the idea of not over-complicating this draft. Our biggest holes are at WR and CB. With limited picks this year, use this draft to do nothing more than fill those gaping holes. All our other needs are less pressing and can wait until next year.

I wanted to put Marquess Wilson in mine too because I love how silky smooth he is as a player. But in the end I went for two bankers in Hopkins and Wheaton. Some of Wilson's drops are horrible and yet I still love to watch him play - he can be beautiful to watch and in my mind, that adjective describes him best when he's on his game.

Here I go with my attempt. I must admit that's went with some personal favorites, though they do have BB ties.

29- Jesse Williams- a beast DT to work with and study behind Big Vince.
59- Wheaton- a solid WR for Brady.
91- Simon- can play DL & LB. a motor. Leader.
226- Renfree- he's going to be a good QB down the road.
235- Okine- the surprise pick. This beast out of Fla may be more of an UDFA, but I do not want to risk it. The surprise of 2013. Yes, looks, this D will be loaded for years to come.

I expect more picks from trading down & moving Mallett. Maybe even a surprise player trade or 2...

    29- DeAndre Hopkins
59- Markus Wheaton (could also go Quinton Patton here)
    91- Leon McFadden
226- Brett Maher (Gostkowski is owed too much money for a kicker that was 18th in the league in FG PCT)
    235- Kayvon Webster

    29. Either Keenan Allen or Robert Woods, whichever one has the cleaner medicals.
    59. John Jenkins. There's a lot to be said for a big, unmoveable man.
    91. Leon McFadden.
    226. Braden Brown.
    235. Rod Sweeting.

    29. DT Kawann Short [Purdue]
Really just a "binky" pick but the guy has talent to be a force in a 4-3 and enough size/speed to probably handle a shift to 3-4 DE as well.
    59. WR Markus Wheaton [Oregon State]
Good size, solid receiver who represents good depth with potential to start in a year.
    91. OLB Corey Lemonier [Auburn]
Shifting from DE in college but he's on the contact list and flashed potential as a rusher.
    226. ILB Steve Beauharnais [Rutgers]
Belichick likes talent from Rutgers and Beauharnais is a football player with good size to be a 3-4 ILB or 4-3 WLB.
    235. OG/C Tanner Hawkinson [Kansas]
Has experience in Charlie Weis' system and can bulk up a bit to add some versatility to play either backup at G or shift to C.
