Both SD and NE have one loss in the division. Assuming they win out in the division, that would be a tie.
Both SD and NE have the same conference record. Assuming both finish with the same conference record, that would be a tie.
It would come down to common games between SD and NE if both are tied.
Looks like CIN has the inside track on tie breakers though with a 5-0 division record. Right.
TO BREAK A TIE WITHIN A DIVISION
Would you replace all the bold divisions with CONFERENCE when you are trying to figure a CONFERENCE tie-breaker? or is still just Division record anyway?
Isn't that what your question was?
Since all three clubs are from different divisions, wild card tie breakers apply:
1. Head-to-head, if applicable.
2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four.
so it will be common games.
No, read my posts above with links: you use the wild card method.
When they say "division record" that's for teams WITHIN the same division. It doesn't matter how well or crappy Cincy does in the AFC North compared to how WE do in the AFC East.
All the team we are competing with, not including the Colts, have 3 conference losses, so far, so its anyone spot to win.
Pitt losing today was nice
CIN plays SD. The winner in all probability knocks the other out of contention for the bye.
so we OWN the tiebreakers?
NO, we dont.
If we have the same conf recored as cinc. , the tie break is games vs. common opp:
NE is 2/2 ... W&L vs Jets W vs Balt L vs Den
Cinc 2/1 TBD vs Jets 2Ws vs Balt , L v Den
If they lose to Jets we would tie them and then move on to strength of schedule which Einstein couldn't figure. (Assumes we have another loss to even up their Jet "loss")
SD with wins over Denver and our loss may also be better placed.
