Yeah Dave Thomas made a stupid mistake. Yeah Jabbar Gaffney drops a sure six. However, let's call it the way it is. This loss is squarely on the coaching staff.
Belichick blows away two critical timeouts on two curious, if not silly, decisions. Why challenge the 12 men on the field if you don't have conclusive evidence from upstairs that it's for sure? And why call a timeout on that 4th down play when the Pats line is blowing the smallish Colts D-line off the ball? What a chickensh*t call. The team was ready to convert it, and in fact they did, until BB strangely decides to take the opportunity out of their hands and get conservative. WTF??
Finally, the play calling. McDandiels?? Hello?? McDaniels?? You got their #1 corner out and Randy Moss being covered by a guy who was on his couch last weekend. Why not even TRY some down-the-field stuff. I love the draws and short screens as a change of pace every once in a while, but geez not as the staples of the offense on what seems like every critical 3rd and long.
THIS GAME was ours for the taking if the coaching staff doesn't mysteriously turn into the SD Chargers.
Alright. We're 5-3 at the half. I'll take it. Big division games coming up. Time to look ahead I guess.
Exhale. Rant over.
