Sorry, wes, not getting it. A picture of a coffin being unloaded? Tragic site, but an American hero nonetheless. What's your point, my friend?

Really? You can't see why it won a pulitzer? American consumers quietly sitting unsuspectingly looking out of there limited views while another dead American is unloaded from beneath them as they curiously glance at it in real life for the first time. "So this is war." Pretty much a symbol for Americans, the media and the war today. Brilliant picture.

Oh, I didn't comment on the picture, did I?

Did I say "huh, why did that crappy picture win a pew-lizzer prize?"

All I did was ask wes what his point was when he posted it.

See--if I posted it, I'd say something about the picture or the photographer or something.

    Wildo answered your question "Beautifully".

There is a song called Little Boy Soldiers by The Jam, the closing lyrics being,

"Better to take your shots and drop down dead, then they send you home in a pine overcoat

With a letter to your mum

Saying find enclosed one son - one medal and a note - to say he won."

The point is simple. Wes is using the tragic loss of an American hero, to make a personal political statement. If he had some specific point, he'd have stated it. He didn't though. A picture is worth a thousands words, but actions themselves are priceless.

A person who believes every slander made against an American soldier using a picture of a dead soldier to try to make a political point.....:singing:

I can't figure you out Wes. You post umpteen threads about our troops killing and torturing innocents and children. Now you post something depicting civilians showing indifference to a fallen soldier. Is there anyone good in your view? I mean besides foreigners.

You really are despicable, you know that?
    Politically speaking, of course.

Have you watched the pictures lately of those people 'trying to fly" as float down from 100 stories up to smash like watermelons onto the Sidewalks Of New York on the morning of 9/11.

BTW--ww didn't bother to post the caption of the picture. Here it is--it explains quite a bit (both about the picture and about why he didn't post it.):

When 2nd Lt. James Cathey's body arrived at the Reno Airport, Marines climbed into the cargo hold of the plane and draped the flag over his casket as passengers watched the family gather on the tarmac. During the arrival of another Marine's casket last year at Denver International Airport, Major Steve Beck described the scene as one of the most powerful in the process. "See the people in the windows? They sit right there in the plane, watching those Marines. You gotta wonder what's going through their minds, knowing that they're on the plane that brought him home," he said. "They're going to remember being on that plane for the rest of their lives. And they should."

It's just an illustrative way to convey the tolls of war, and how it treats those who fuel it.

    jackass--they are volunteers.

And isn't it amazing and heart stopping, that in this country, where we have so much, and are given so much and are capable of so much, that we have men and women who believe in it so deeply, who care so much about each one of us, about America, about freedom, that they still volunteer and go to these places and put their very lives on the line?

So that people like you can piss on them.
