Is all of this freaking out BS normal? It's really sickening.

What will it take for people to trust this franchise? 10 Superbowls? 20?

It's OK for people to question individual moves, of course, but to lose faith in BB and crew and accuse them of losing their fire and basically being incompetent???

    WTF!

On an unrelated subject (and yes, what you're seeing is normal... almost a New England sports fan tradition) I just wanted to mention that everytime I see your handle, and I hear the voice in my head say "Patjew" it always makes me want to say "Bless You". It's just a very sneezy-sounding name.

For this day and age, yes it's normal. The Patriots are popular and football is fast becoming a year-round sport. That's a lethal combination when fans see other teams making moves while our hometown boys are standing pat.

I agree with you, lots of people are doing the chicken-little dance right now. It's unwarranted because there's plenty of talent and plenty of time left.

And, not to perpetuate stereotypes, but it certainly seems as if the new people on the board are the ones questioning the lack of moves.

    Thanks dude.

Put the emphasis on "pat" and not "jew" and it will sound better.

And BTW, do you think BB is slipping by not signing more Jews. Re-sign Miller now!

    patjew,

This GARBAGE is, for this site, utterly out of the ordinary. This site, and those who post here, prides itself on smart, analytical, creative and objective talk about the Patriots. I'm sorry this is your first exposure to it. It is a very poor and inaccurate (mis)representation of what the site is truly like and all about.

I'll chime in. This is by far the best site I've come across. i used to read the one on usenet, but way too much trolling and bull****. I love this place, although up till recently I've mostly remained silent.

PJ...it is very common amongst fans who are fantasy league enthusiasts. Also, my own opinion, I think it's very high amongst people who boast alot and now fear payback.

I don't do fantasy and I don't boast...so I am an honorable member of the "IN BILL WE TRUST" orginization.

Also, let's face it, there are 31 other teams out there with good people running the team also. If the Patriots never win the SB again I really don't care. I ooted when they were in the gutter and I'll root for them again...I enjoy it alot but it doesn't affect my mood either way.

By the way PatJew - let me just add that of your 122 posts this season they've all been stellar. You ask good questions and have good input and insights on the topics of the board.

You don't post a lot but what you do post is worthwhile... of course perhaps I feel that way because I agree with you 95% of the time.

Patsox, you are both so right and so wrong at the same time. I started posting here last fall, but have been a lurker for over 2 years, just for info. This site is everything you said, and yet it is also the bullseye for everything hysteric, both at the same time. Off season and early FA has always brought the same sort of hysterics. Its part of the game. We will see a bunch of new posters (mostly young and or fantasy league types) who will register, log in and wail in agony at our lack of early big splash moves. They will soon be gone and we will no longer hear from them again. Has happened every year for the last two I have been reading, and now its happening again.

PatJew, come stop by the draft forum. It's a relatively rant-free zone, suitable for geeking out on combine results and positional analysis.

Hope you had a good Purim, by the way.

shirtsleeve nails it. You're right - I AM right and wrong. This does occasionally happen, and it's almost always around this time of year. Newbies come in and taint the place for a couple of months and then move on. Glad Patjew isn't one of them.

Some folks are just getting frustrated with the lack of FA signings of either the Patriots own FA's or anyone else's. Just taking a "in Bill We Trust" attitude, IMO, is like saying you have no mind of your own. It's not like every year has been a FA succes story. Both last year and 2002 left a lot to be desired. While it's not the Patriots way from years past with BB and Pioli to big big early players in FA, in those years the Patriots didn't have almost 17 million in cap space either. If it turns out they use that space to redo some of thier own core guys to extensions, sign a few helpful FA's late and do well in the draft, all could be OK. It's tough to see all the FA's that're getting signed without getting antsy about it. The idea that the Patriots would win the Super Bowl every year because we have BB, Brady, etc. was fantasy fromn the start anyway.

I totally understand what you're saying, but I disagree.

To me... the "In BB We Trust" mantra doesn't say 'I have no mind of my own'. To me it says no matter how much I dig, read, and learn, I will NEVER know anywhere near what Belichick and Pioli know.

I will never know how a player in the draft will truly fit in with the plan for the Patriots this year, or next year, or five years after that. Hell, I don't even know what the plan is. None of us do.

I will never truly know the state of the roster at hand. Is Michael McGrew (picking an unproven WR at random) just training camp fodder, or has he somehow shown the spark that tells BB that there's a Givens-like light at the end of the tunnel that nobody else saw? I don't know, and neither does anyone else here.

There's just so much we as fans don't know, won't know, and can't know. All those things which we don't know, by necessity, our management/coaching staff DOES know. So it comes down to the question, who do you best trust to handle the things that, as a simple outside observer and fan, you aren't privy to? Can there be any other answer than Bill Belichick?

No matter who's in the driver's seat, we'll NEVER have all the information, all we'll have is speculation on our part. So the question becomes, to me, who among all the NFL coaching and management, do you trust to make decisions based on information you and I don't have? Personally, the answer there is, "In Bill Belichick I Trust". Above all others.

Is the BB/SP team infallable? Are they perfect? Duane Starks and a bevy of others testify, "HELL NO!". Do I think there's anyone better at making these decisions based on information I don't have? Hell no.

I'm no sheep... but In Bill Belichick I Trust.

Right on. For me it's the chemistry part we will never get...and that is the hidden factor...one of the Pats edges. Keith traylor's release was a real head scratcher until you hear 6 months later he was a real a-hole...guy's saying Brian Cox will not be missed. Willlie telling the young guys to "stay humble". Ex players saying they miss the Pats because the were a great bunch of guys and they never got an offer to return, but the organization did not release that news so they could get a good deal with another team. Things like that.
