All that's left is a little tweaking, as should be the case before the 3rd preseason game. There have been many decisions made in the last week.

We don’t need more than 5 receivers and 3 TE’s on the starting 53. After all, we will have two receivers and one TE on the PUP list.

Given the injury history of our OL’s, we probably should have nine on the roster who could start THIS year. I added Mruc if Yates goes on IR. The position they fill is backup G/C.

I have only two rooks making the squad: Meriweather and Kareem Brown.

Obviously, Rogers could beat out Chad Brown for the last linebacker spot.

Baker and Mitchell are fighting it out for the last ST spot.

I just hope Rogers will make it in the roster. Liked him very much against Bucs.

That looks right. I dont see Caldwell making this team unless he really brings it on Fri.

Aside from Chad Milking, who is the other Jackson on the PUP?

I'll be shocked if Caldwell doesn't make it.

I'd be equally shocked if Richardson is cut outright. At the very least, the guy has shown some skills and will be placed on the practice squad. I think he has a decent chance at the 53 man roster myself, particularly if Samuel continues to hold out.

Where's Childress?

moore would be nice insurance at the nose, big bulky and has played the position in our scheme with the jets, the nose tackle is critical in the 3 4,

Chad Brown - no way. Rogers is a keeper.

Why waste a 53 roster spot on Vinnie who will be available via the shadow roster if and when we need him? That spot is for Richardson.

He has to be cut before he can make the practice squad. Other teams will have a shot at him on wavers, then if he's still available, can be signed. I agree with the list pretty much, except I see Mills in and Rivers out, and even tho Reche is struggling, I see him beating out Washington..

Why keep Mills? What has he shown? Zilch, including in the open summer camp reports posted here. Please don't cite how well he appeared in 2006 pre-season. You KNOW that that means Zip to BB.

and rivers has done...?

Eddie. He is a veteran CB (CAR, MIA) Who blew out his ACL last year. They signed him to a 2-year deal knowing he wouldn't be ready until later this season or next season.

Hmmm...looking over your depth chart, I see as many as eleven jobs still in doubt. (Note that a couple of players appear in more than one row.)

OL: pick 2 of Yates, Mruczkowski, Elgin, Britt, Oldenberg
TE: Mills vs. Rivers
DL: pick 2 of Smith, Moore, K. Brown
OLB: Rogers vs. C. Brown
ST: pick 3 of Izzo, Wesley, Mitchell, Childress, Washington, Rogers
WR: Caldwell vs. Washington
CB: Richardson vs. James vs. Samuel
Last guy: take your pick, but if Samuel returns at the 11th hour then one of the CBs is a good bet.

Oh, Thanks. Didn't know we had a fast Eddie.

I think the Pats will keep 6 WRs. With both Gaffney and Moss out for an indefinite amount of time and Stallworth and Welker still struggling with some of their routes, I think the Pats are going to keep as many WRs as they can. I think Caldwell's experience with the offense and his blocking abilities (he is the best blocking WR on the roster), I think he is almost uncutable at this point in time especially if Gaffney is out of the line up going into the start of the season. I can't see the Pats starting the season with no WRs with prior real game experience in this offense on the active roster vs. the Jets.

I think Washington will be the sixth WR, but Childress may overtake him with a couple more good performances. Other than his two catches in the first game, Washington I have not heard or seen one thing positive about his ability on offense.

Good stuff to ponder. I'll agree that if Gaffney's out for game one, Caldwell must be on the roster. (I think he makes it regardless, actually.) And Childress, like Washington, can return kicks.

Bam is cheap, diligent, knows the system, and is one of those UDFAs BB loves to sign as a signal of open competition and the value of hard work. But man is he tiny. I mean, Mike-Reiss-interviewing-Kyle-Brady kind of tiny.

I think Childress wins the "54th man" award for the most transactions in one year. He could be signed, cut, signed to the PS, cut and resigned half a dozen times this year as injuries and the inevitable wear and tear on special teamers mount. I think JeRod Cherry holds the record for one season.

Unless he gets picked up by the Jets.
