The ultimate result of the videotape...

I just think it is hugely overblown, true or not.

And no moreso than by this teams own judgemental fanbase. That's the sad thing. This is done by other teams to blunt what we do. Notice we aren't talking about what this team did to the JETS yesterday but what some JETS official has accused our FO of doing. To keep their fans from calling them out demanding to know why do you let them make us look like dunderheads after we chest thumped on message boards all week, and while we're at it why can't you make our franchise as successful as their's is. Throwing out the "cheating" card just makes them all feel better about each other. Not sure what the fascination is with this fan base, but then again they are critical to extreme like spoiled children who can no longer be satisfied.

If they had a brain cell left between them in Buffalo, they'd be watching game tape from yesterday looking for things they might fix on their team and not wasting time looking at film of a year old game when we dominated them because they always figured we might have been cheating to accomplish that...

At times like this this fan base is often it's own worst enemy. It's a mentality the Boston media long ago created covering another team. It was somewhat understandable since they hadn't won in 86 years. It is less defensible when it persists for a franchise that has won half of it's league's championships contested in the last 6 years.

Neither am I. I think it's easier to go to last post read or last post in a consolidated thread than to wade through multiple threads on the same topic only to find nothing new, just more opinions. Seems to be the policy here to merge redundant threads for that reason, keeping the board manageable and free for good new threads to have a shot at getting noticed. IMHO people who start new threads on the same topic are just looking for more focused attention on their opinion. Face it, there is nothing new or additional here. That's the problem. That, and it's just attracting more trolls...

Bingo!!!!!!!!!

The Pats and Jets should play a 2 AM game at a high-school stadium and the teams should be on the same sideline. Oh yeah, this game would not be televised. Guess what. The Patriots would still beat their butts.

I wonder if the Chargers will be concerned about having their plays stolen, Advantage = Pats

Bingo!!!!!!!!!

Again, for the love of CHRIST, if you would actually READ the post that initiated this thread, you would see that that was not at ALL my intention in STARTING this thread. I can't control that it veered back into something that became redundant.

Why not, instead of this judgmental B.S., get the topic back on point and discuss how the team will be moving forward from here?

With this and Rodney's HGH episode, I have to admit to feeling a little bummed. We can't claim the high horse anymore, that's for sure. It's like looking at someone's play when they choose it in Madden. Bush league, even if everyone does it.

I still don't get the big deal with this whole thing. It's just something else the crybaby losers of the NFL are doing to combat the big, bad Patriots because they can't win any other way. Yeah, the Jets made the playoffs last year, but does anyone really see them as a threat? Does anyone really think BB needs some stupid videotape to beat Mangini and that bad football team? Here's a newsflash for you kid, even if the Jets had Patriots playbook, they still could not have won that game!

Oh and let me guess, you always drive the speed limit, assuming you are old enough to drive, you always keep your eyes on your own test in school, you help old ladies across the street with bundles of groceries and you don't look at porn. Right??

In my expirience, the most pious among us are the worst sinners..

If a high school football team can videotape its games, and if every NFL team has about 20 cameras rolling, why can't a team staff member videotape the game? What kind of magic signals would he pick up on video that every player on the sideline wouldn't be able to see for himself?

Was he on the Jets sideline, listening in on meetings? Was he in the huddle? I'm really confused about this whole thing: how can he "steal" signals that are in plain sight, and - if true - what benefit would the Pats get from that video that they couldn't pickup through players and game video?

And yet your screenname honors a Charger who cheated. Funny how that works.
Do I smell self-righteousness burning on the hot sidewalk? Talk about ultimate hypocrisy! :D Good point, Bella.

LOL, if you have just made a sly reference to my own screenname, you are quite clever. But I think the difference is I don't really care enough to go spouting off about Merriman's shady past on Charger's MBs.* :p

*(If there are any, lol)

How are you so sure the Pats would rat out anyone? My sense from listening to Parcells on NFL Countdown is that this kind of thing has been going on, in one form or another, for literally DECADES.

There is the point, right there.

Teams have been stealing each other's signals for years.

How many times have you heard of teams running rotating plays so other teams can't keep up with thier playbooks.

Oh, and the NFL must think every player to ever be cut DIDN'T load the playbook onto his laptop and share it with the new team he signed with who just HAPPENS to be playing his old team Sunday. Especially in this day and age when playbooks are all CDs.

How many base runners over the years try to steal catchers signals and tip off batters.

I can remember in a playoff game a few years back when the Dolphins' Dan Marino accused the Pats' Todd Collins of stealing signals and intercepting him. The Pats as much as admitted it. If you want to leave your signals out there to be stolen, the tough she-ite.

And what do Dan Martino and Eric Mangini have in common? Both whining-arse losers.

I cannot wait for the cry-baby Jets to come to Foxboro!

Agreed.

Stealing signals has being going on in football and sports for ever. Don Banks covered this already, see article: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/don_banks/07/06/cheating.nfl/index.html

It has been going on for ever:
http://www.post-gazette.com/sports/columnists/20010709thebig0709np1.asp

Like Ellis Hobbs said there are cameras everywhere, maybe teams should be more careful with their signals. If the league comes down on the Pats they better go back and edit some of their films, I have seen plenty of NFL Films videos where the old timers brag about stealing signs. Every team does this to gain a competitve edge in a league where the difference between winning and losing is razor thin.

Didn't the Dolphins do this to the Pats last year?? Maybe no one cared then because they were a terrible team going anywhere. I view it as sour grapes from teams the Pats continually have been trouncing for years on and off the field.

You think posters here read threads? LOL Good luck with getting this one back on track, whatever that track was intended to be (might be too similar to Maverick's thread with a clearer title). There are now 6 threads on one piss ant subject proliferating on the main page. A day after we stunned the league. Yours was the trigger.

A while back the Admin apparently decided to have mods merge threads or move them for main board management sake. I know some don't like that, but it only seems to matter to them when it's their thread that gets merged. Posting updated information is one thing, and even those things generally get folded in via merge - heck most folks have taken to asking their threads be merged. This poorly titled thread had no new information, just your opinion on the so called ultimate result of the videotape.

Well, yes, by all means, blame ME for having started a thread that was about moving ON from the point of so many stray threads because others started threads were ACTUALLY redundant. Good call.

Call a mod, have them merge them, I don't care.

I disagree, I hate hearing this crap and I hate hearing the HGH shi*. We won 3 titles and we were/are the class of the league and however common some of this stuff is I hate hearing about it/knowing we are cheating and hurting our image. let them hate us for being good and not for being cheap.

I think the "We are too Classy to stoop to that level" arguement is crap. Do you think 25 years from now, when this teams place in History will be defined, people will really be concerned with video tapes? It is about the Rings.

Belichick should be doing everything he can to get an advantage for our team. Football is a brutal game that is full of teams looking for an advantage. My problem with this whole thing is that Belichick has kept the same clown who got caught in Green Bay in the Organization....how did this guy not get fired last year?

What's next? ...toilet cams in the lady's rooms?

You are what you are. Judgement served. Live with it.

I see a ton of hypocricy from patriots fans.
If , IF the Patriots did what they were told not to do, in no uncertain terms, and they did it anyway, the Patriots SHOULD be punished, and severely.
JMO, but we'd expect no less if it were another team.
A rule is a rule. The Patriots would rat out any team they could catch doing the same thing.
Maybe Belichick would be pissed for getting caught, but too bad.
I'd be pissed at the organization for costing us a draft pick.
No you're not. You want to gloat, and obviously you do, at least gloat honestly.

You are the last person speak of dishonesty. Your post reeks of hypocrisy.
