is that Bill Belichick will be pissed - at the jets, the Packers, the league, whatever. Give up a draft pick, fine. Call us on something MOST teams probably do - okay, go for it. Now we'll just beat teams into submission.

Of course, it being Belichick, it won't be anything overt. And it's not like he doesn't focus or try really hard NO MATTER WHAT, but if there's a little extra "F you" in his bloodstream, fantastic. If this can give the team a little edge, a little Rodney Harrison-style persecution chip on their shoulder, sounds good to me. Just taking a negative and turning it into a positive.

F off, NFL. And Eric - we'll be ACTUALLY running it up on you from now on. Best of luck for the rest of your career. Because the fact is, even if this is true, it reeks of those "tricks of the trade" aspects of baseball. One of those things that makes you a little b!tch to rat anyone out on. Fair enough. I look forward to seeing the Patriots reaction.

My prediction just went from a 7-point win against SD to double-digits.

Haha the Pats are looking a little like the evil overlords of the NFL lately. Love em.

They are starting to have a little "Raiders-like" edge to them. Got to love it. I am sick of being everyone's darlings. This is a vicious game and it is not about making friends with every media person, player, coach, or fan. Screw them.

I see a ton of hypocricy from patriots fans.
If , IF the Patriots did what they were told not to do, in no uncertain terms, and they did it anyway, the Patriots SHOULD be punished, and severely.
JMO, but we'd expect no less if it were another team.
A rule is a rule. The Patriots would rat out any team they could catch doing the same thing.
Maybe Belichick would be pissed for getting caught, but too bad.
I'd be pissed at the organization for costing us a draft pick.

Hopefully this is all bogus, and the guy was filming the cheerleaders' bums.
The Patriots had to know Mangini would be looking for this if in fact the Patriots had been doing this in the past.
There would be no excuse for the Pats, and nobody to blame but themselves.

How are you so sure the Pats would rat out anyone? My sense from listening to Parcells on NFL Countdown is that this kind of thing has been going on, in one form or another, for literally DECADES.

I disagree, I hate hearing this crap and I hate hearing the HGH shi*. We won 3 titles and we were/are the class of the league and however common some of this stuff is I hate hearing about it/knowing we are cheating and hurting our image. let them hate us for being good and not for being cheap.

Nothing will ever come of this. At the most, the league will quietly speak to the Pats if, and thats a big IF, anything happened. I mean really, this is NY, where every news report is slanted and distorted.

The very last thing the league will do is publicly punish a team for cheating, especially a team that quite possibly is the best team of this decade. This would be an embarassment to the entire league.

As much as I love Belichick and the Pats, if they were really doing this it was a really stupid move. If they've been warned about this kind of stuff before then why keep doing and take the chance and really getting caught?

Can we get a merge...one thread on this crap until it fades away on Goodell's back burner is enough and your varying thoughts aren't novel or noteworthy...

I agree with those who think little will come of this. I suspect that there is indeed a lot of this sort of stuff occuring routinely in the NFL. If Mangy did go out of his way to break an unspoken code of conduct, then I am sure he will reap what he's sown in the long run.

winning the superbowl and destroying everybody in doing so would be the biggest F*** you this team can send to the league. this situation has to have our players burning inside, just knowing they fairly went out there, executed plays and beat the jets and now are losing credit for their work. This team had a hard time finding a disrespect theme for this year, well this is it. it wouldnt surprise me if we start by letting out our fustrations on the chargers.

Well, if that were the case, then wouldn't the players be mad at the coaches or whoever did this?
Why be mad at the "league"?

No it wouldn't. It IS an embarassment to the cheater Patriots. It should be a rule that if caught doing this you have to forfeit all your draft picks for 2 seasons and suffer a cap hit. Why so severe? Because ITS CHEATING. Intentional cheating just like using steroids or HGH. Really I believe there should be an instant year long ban for HGH and Steroids even if it means some of the best players in the league not playing. The NFL is way too soft on these million dollar cheaters.

Okay, cool. Let's suspend Merriman and Harrison for TWO YEARS also. That's cheating.

By the way, what makes you think this kind of thing isn't something that's been going on - by LOTS of teams, the Chargers included - for years and years and years? Like...farther back than last year when you were skinning your knee at recess.
