The Replacement Referees Cost The Green Bay Packers A First-Round Bye - Business Insider

Green Bay could have handled it themselves on sunday and received the Bye Week with a win over the Vikings but failed to do so....but looking back to the worst call of the 2012 NFL season,A Packer fan can look back at the infamous game in which the boneheaded call cost them that game and eventually the Bye Week months later.

There are trickle down effects from those games with the replacement refs...I don't think the Seahawks would have been any lower in seeding than they are right now if the lost that game like they should have because in a 3 way tie at 10-6 they would have won the tiebreaker over Minnesota and Chicago who they beat earlier.

One could say that if the replacement refs weren't in the Pats Ravens game when they called that FG good,(which it wasn't to most of us) it would have eventually sent the Pats to the top seed.

Anyone else remember games that were screwed up at the end of those games that might have made a difference in the playoff picture if the regular refs were in uniform during those weeks?

To summarize it all,no one thinks about those weeks of circus acts of those referees and teams should have won games the past recent month to get them to where they wanted to be,but nevertheless some calls back then influenced the final regular season records of a few teams when it was all said and done.

Doesn't matter now, besides the Pats would've never been in this position if they just took care of buisness against either the Cardinals or Seahawks. Likewise with GB against Minny.

Of course that is the case but ref calls were pretty bad back then and some teams got screwed and it reflects now, even though teams had a way to overcome those calls this past month by winning games that they lost.

How about that holding call on Gronk on thr game winning run at the end of the Cardinals game? The regular refs went on record as saying they wouldn't have called it.

I don't know, I saw a similar kick being called good yesterday. I don't remember the game, either the vikings game or the Cincy game.
You can't be sure what these refs would do.

Can someone dig up footage of Vinatieri's field goal in 2003 in the snow game against hte Dolphins (think Bruschi pick six followed by fans throwing snow in the air).

He had a kick that went over the upright that was called good. THe Dolphins players argued with the refs but to no avail.

Replacement refs screwed us out of a 14-2 season. Besides the missed field goal call, no way the regular refs give EVERYTHING to the Ravens all night. (Edelman getting mugged in front of the ref, huge ticky tack holding on Mayo on 3rd and long, Mccourty PI, 1000 holds by the Ravens OL)

The phantom holding call on Gronk negating the gamewinning TD vs Az also cost us a 1.

I know the Pack got screwed bad but they still came into this week controlling their own destiny. They lost to a 10-6 team. So they had their shot to right the wrong.

Fortunately we righted ours by going 12-2 in the games that weren't directly impacted by the replacements. And even more fortunately fate caught up with the Ravens and they finished a measley 10-6, playing on WC weekend.

It is what it is, it's not what it was. Dredging it up doesn't change a thing. It's water under the bridge. The future starts today.
That's about all the applicable metaphors I could come up with...

The phantom holding call on Mayo against Rice was the most ridiculous call I've seen (or not seen). Mayo wasn't even touching Rice. That totally gave all the momentum to the Ravens.
