The Roots Filet Michele Bachmann With Fishbone | New York Daily News

The Minnesota congresswoman appeared to miss the dig. She strode to the couch smiling and waving to the crowd while the hip-hop group tore into the tune's frenzied opening bars.

The Roots have a history of taking musical pot-shots at some of Fallon's more infamous guests.

They serenaded Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt with Beck's "Loser," while Ashley Simpson was once greeted by a Milli Vanilli song, referencing her 2004 lip-synch flub on Saturday Night Live.

Hours before the show aired, Roots drummer Questlove told his Twitter followers to keep their ears pricked during Tuesday morning's show.

My boy Questlove .... well played.

Just another example of libs "viciously" attacking a conservative. Still can't believe she went on Fallon's show.

Still can't believe that Bachmann doesn't listen to Fishbone.

Kind of a nasty thing to do.....even if it's their reputation to do so.

I wonder - I don't watch the show ever, so I don't know anything about the show, the band or anything else, but I would think that when a person is going to appear on someone's show they have their "people" check it out, yes?

If it's the show's reputation to poke at the guests with a mocking song, wouldn't it behoove the guest to either request that it not be done or to outright make it a condition of their appearance at all?

I don't like the song, I don't like that it was played for Bachmann, but I do have to wonder why it wasn't anticipated and prevented.

That goes for Michelle, Heidi, Ashley, Obama or anyone else who appears on the show.

Seems you have two choices. You know it's customary and so you either A) Accept it and laugh at yourself or B) Tell them you won't appear unless you have the final say in the song they play.

If they don't want to give it to you, you don't have to go on.

Some of my friends have appeared on the show numerous times and have gotten positive songs by The Roots. I think its a creative decision by the band, and the show allows them to have that kind of creative freedom. I haven't checked, but I don't think you'll see Questlove or Blackthought say they are sorry.

    EDIT:

    I stand corrected...

“The performance was a tongue-in-cheek and spur of the moment decision. The show was not aware of it and I feel bad if her feelings were hurt. That was not my intention,” Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson said in a statement.

I got nothing against stabbing people who deserve it; but show some manhood. Stab 'em in the front, not the back.

Kinda strange for YOU to be discussing manhood, isn't it?

Well never heard if this guy and didn't know Fallon even had a show, I thought he just did hideous commercials for the loan sharks at capital one, I saw a pic of 'Questlove' mugging with Obama, so no surprise there. This is more attention that Bachmann has gotten in months.

Why would anyone care about a juvenile skit by a guy who pimps for Obama?

Beck and Limbaugh have their thongs all in a bunch over this stuff, and of course Bachman is demanding an apology..

I read about Limbaugh's take he filleted the Fallon guys.

His satire was to speculate what would be the response if Michelle Obama was intro'd to Baby's got Back,

“I like big butts and I cannot lie” …

Of course the MSM would go nuts.

    Bachmann should lighten up btw.

    Hey....I'd probably demand one, too.

Look how bent outa shape people get around here when they think someone's called them a liar - and, honestly, being called a "b!tch" or being alluded to as one is, to some women, the same as being called a "ni--ger" is to a black person.

I agree that it's kind of an underhanded move. I'm conservative, but I find Bachmann to be short-sighted, opportunistic, and just plain bad as a candidate. You could not get me to vote for her. I personally would have liked to have seen the Roots guys try to have a debate with her or call her out on her opinions that they take issue with. We all know she likely would not have been able to defend herself intelligently.

Then again, this is a comedy-based show and that wouldn't be very funny. The most annoying part is that it would be different if it were Michelle Obama or Hilary Clinton on the receiving end. But that's just how it goes. I'm focused on food and football tomorrow. Enough of this nonsensical, hypocritical farce we call politics. Happy Thanksgiving all! :)

OT: I've never heard any woman say that. Another word might approach it, but even that would be an overreaction, imo.
