WTF? You guys seeing this stuff? LMAO.

Okay, I need a holographic model of the US Capitol and a bunch of seats in it like I need another hole in my weewee, granted, but damn it really is cool!

the overall display of graphic wizardry last night was pretty hilarious. Pay no attention to the issues, MSNBC has a digital rotating Greek Parthenon.

Yeah but can it put you in a film noir setting or a Sherlock Holmes story? I doubt it.

a digital rotating Greek Parthenon is so 2004.

There was no detective novel theme, though I am sure they are contemplating such uses in the future. It was entertaining to see Jessica saying "Help me Obiwan Blitzer, you're my only hope."

Okay I made that part up. But they're going really Holo-crazy over on CNN. You really need to check it out.

Um it's way better on teevee. You get the idea though.

I liked the map where John King would touch a county and compare it to the 2004 results.
Wtf with the musician who magically showed up from Grant Park, yea, that's what I want in my news (CNN or MSNBC, as I was going back and forth, even a little Fox).

Pretty soon it'll be digital actors to go along with the digital background.

300 years from now cute, perky Katie will have not aged a day. In fact she'll be as much as 15% perkier.

perkiness enhancement is on the drawing boards but we do not yet have the technology :)

By the way they had on the honcho of holos tonight, and I think he might be a Gen Xer. So holograms and extreme sports awards go to Gen X. Take that boomers! Heh.

Is it possible to do a holograph of Ann Coulter? There might be a problem if three dimensions are required...or maybe the Adam's apple will do.

Takes 35 cameras to do a holograph of someone.

That's a very big carbon footprint ... :bricks:

Yeah but minimal averaged over all viewing eyeballs. You only need the 35 cameras once.

Whereas the comparatively modest requirement of one automobile times a million drivers gets you rush hour. Also, a way bigger carbon footprint problem.

I know people like to make fun of it, but I actually think that it's awesome and I'm so jacked about this technology. I hope that they continue to use it.

Still the hologram reportedly wasn't visible in the studio, sort of like a blue screen deal, but still it was amazing.

Are you kidding? Better holography was depicted on Star Trek 20 years ago. This was nothing but special effects on the TV screen. Perhaps the fact it was done live makes it somewhat interesting.

Now, can someone tell me, if they had a REAL hologram going on that set, would this have been viewable through TV?

Um, you know the Holograms on Star Trek aren't real holograms right? They're just people pretending to be holograms.

LOL Nova... better faster-than-light travel was depicted on the original star trek series 40 years ago! Oh crap... a model you say...

The Cisco demo was really cool because those are holograms that appear live, and then people could capture on video, rather than holograms fed from camera to camera. For us it was no difference, but for the CNN studio you could say it "didn't count." Whereas with Cisco, they just beamed people in, and happened to get pictures of it.

Even so you still can't get your rocks off with hologram chicks like in Star Trek TNG.

And my point being, neither were the holograms on CNN. The interviewer did not see Spike Lee on the set, except perhaps on a monitor. Sorry Nova, you've been duped.
