The Obama You Don't Know | Washington Examiner

This is a huge piece that everyone should see.
From his "humble" beginnings as a student in the most prestigious school in Jakarta. To a kick back slum lord lawyer. To a third rate proffesor at Chicago U.
Lets help it catch fire by sending the link to friends and family.

The part I was surprised by was Lawyer Obama representing slumlords, who were sued for not providing heat to her impoverished tenants, why would Obama defend that?

Chapter IV: For the slumlord's defense, Barack Obama, Esq. | WashingtonExaminer.com

He praised his slumlord friend when he passed a way in 2010 and described him as a man with "a gentle heart", okie dokie....

I can only imagine the media firestorm if Romney or a pub had done suvh a thing. Why was this never reported on?

If you are talking local schools that part of your statement could be accurate.

If you are talking all schools in Jakarta, that is false.

The article talks about the specific school he attended in Indonesia, and the locale where he lived.

And I lived there 13, I don't need an article to explain it to me.

My point was, if we are speaking to the school he went to, an Indonesian school, it very well could be the most prestigious of the local schools, but that statement is ignoring International schools, one of which is Internationally recognized a top prep school world wide (was number 2 behind Geneva when I left).

Jakarta has three International Schools (all of which would be "more prestigious" than the best local schools):

    JIS - Jakarta International School
    BIS - British International School
NJIS - North Jakarta International School

Indonesian nationals were not allowed to attend JIS until the Indonesian government amended its law prohibiting it (after I graduated in 2001), although the wealthiest of Indonesians would pay off the government and JIS admin to look the other way prior to the rule being changed.

As for the area he lived in, Mentang, it may have been really nice in the 1970s, but not recently. Mentang is in Jakarta Pusat (Jakarta Center) which was grimey when I lived in Jakarta (93-01).

Pondok Indah; in Jakarta Selatan (South) has been the "gem" of Jakarta since the 1970s.

I'm not trying to be a snob or what have you, but the article isn't clear as to what it is speaking to, thus why I posed my question/statement.

Obama attended prep school in Hawaii not Indonesia, he would have attended elementary school there.

Doesn't change anything, since JIS,BIS,NJIS are all K-12.

    Fair enough.

While I agree, I have derailed a couple of threads last couple of days.

Just wanted to make sure I hadn't offended

Does the right get suspicious of an uncredited, unsigned document, that comes from a free right wing DC newspaper???

How many times do you all get duped before you vette your sources???

Just looking at the players involved raises suspicion.. very selective.

Maybe they should write a book denigrating Obama, oh wait there have been 42 of them written and several movies..

Then the right will whine about how Obama has not been vetted, he has been vetted more than all the rest of the presidents combined..
