The last bastion of Obama's mystique -- that the world liked us better that we had gotten rid of the "cowboy" -- has been shattered. As the story runs over the next couple of weeks, the American people will wonder at how this could possibly have failed, especially after being told how inspiring the Arab Spring was... and all the associations made between Arab Spring, Occupy Wall Street and ultimately the Obama campaign. I bet Romney leads by 2 points in polling in the next 10 days and may get as high as 4 or 5.

Re: The Obama Presidency is over

Are you even watching the news? Romney completely and utterly beclowned himself with his inept and reprehensible response to the embassy attack. Even Republican foreign policy hands are calling it his "Lehman moment."

Like I said, completely and utterly delusional.

Really? So all the discussion over Romney's comments and not the President's? Interesting.

Umm...yes. This should be an excellent indicator of Beltway consensus:

That is, of course, Mark Halperin.

Re: The Obama Presidency is over

That's wishful thinking on your part in my opinion. The Arab Spring was a good movement that overthrew tyranny. Or do you miss or think the American people miss the likes of Qadaffi and Mubarek? The fact is that these countries have weak governments right now, and there are opportunities for right-wing religious extremists to cause trouble. The Libyan and Egyptian governments have apologized and condemned the attacks. When the U.S. is attacked, most Americans tend to rally around the country, but the right-wing is not like that in their increasingly desperate effort to defeat Obama.

Rmoney is being criticized by even Republicans for his "tone deaf" handling of this tragedy:

Thanks for that update, Mr. Kristol.

Meanwhile, back in the real world, we learn that the opposite is, in fact, true.

You meam the administration running away from the statement issues by the embassy in Egypt they are responsible for?

You think they issued a statement without input from the WH or State Dept?

Re: The Obama Presidency is over

No, I mean the fact that Romney decided to shamelessly attack the president before the facts were made available, and then instead of doing the tactful thing and walking back his disgusting attacks, decided to double down on them instead. A whole lot of people are getting a good picture of who this guy is today, and it ain't pretty, I'll tell you that much.

Re: The Obama Presidency is over

The fact that he's even trying to score cheap political points off this tragedy is disgusting in and of itself. Comparing his response to those of other Republicans should demonstrate this for you rather clearly.

Re: The Obama Presidency is over

It isn't a tragedy, an earthquake is a tragedy this was an outrage an attack on sovereign us territory ( the embassy). :bricks: :bricks:

And the apology to the attackers by the US government is pathetic. Which is why the administration is running away from their pronouncement and tryng to throw the embassy people under the bus.

Her's a hint Embassies don't issues apologies on behalf of the Us Government without the aqpproval of the WH or State Dept so who is responsible Hillary or Obama, if Hillary he should demand her resignation.

The "One Good Thing" if Obama is re-elected, his groupies and fawners will have to suffer right along with the rest of us.

Re: The Obama Presidency is over

So you don't think the murder of a US Ambassador is a tragedy, which is defined by dictionary.com as a "a shocking or sad event"? Must be that conflicted relationship you have with the English language manifesting again.

No one is throwing them under the bus. They made a tweet in an attempt to calm the civil unrest fomenting right outside their gates. If you think the tweet was approved by the higher levels of the State Department or the Administration, please supply some evidence to support the notion they were aware of it when it went out. Of course, by Romney's (and yours) logic, the very same tweet since disavowed by both is something Obama is still responsible for.

I'm sure you know this from your vast experience working in civil service, right? You can try as hard as you want to gin up outrage over a relatively benign tweet; the fact is that Romney is the one who decided to attack the president before all the facts were known, and thoroughly embarrassed and demeaned himself and his campaign in the process.

Riddle me this: how many mainstream Republicans are rallying around Romney right now? How many?
