Eight Federal Prosecutors were fired by the Bush Administration. Testifying before the Senate, one prosecutor said he was pressured to file charges against Democrats 'before' the November elections.

We are seeing the fallout daily of this administration's desire to rule the kingdom. The result very well could be the exact opposite in which they envisioned. Another day another scandal, another election, less Republicans and no filibustering.

more deflection and distortion, and no reflection on the thread topic whatsoever... man, you must be quietly ashamed of your Conservative "faith-based" heroes... how telling, indeed, that you have NOTHING to say in defense of this cabal that fabricated a war, lied to cover their tracks, and has left it's military reserves in frightening disarray... yeah, the blue dress is what we should be talking about, huh?

walk toward the light, Fogger... we're here waiting for you... worry not, none of us are gay or anything... we're just the common sense party...

Not quite sure where your going with that one. Richard Nixon was one deceitful, morally wrong person. Nixon smirked when hearing that third party candidate Wallace had been nearly assassinated. He then inquired if they could plant evidence pointing to the Democrats as the culprits. In some ways the Bush Administration mirrors Nixon, tho it would be hard pressed to find something as evil as this comparison.
This story on these prosecutors is not going away quietly and Attorney General Gonzales may end up unemployed, at the least.

and in the least surprising news tidbit of the year so far, the administration is already threatening the attornies:

U.S. attorney worried 'gloves would come off' over criticism of ouster

    http://www.realcities.com/mld/krwashington/16840449.htm

    By Marisa Taylor
    McClatchy Newspapers

WASHINGTON _ A high-ranking Justice Department official told one of the U.S. attorneys fired by the Bush administration that if any of them continued to criticize the administration for their ousters, previously undisclosed details about the reasons they were fired might be released, two of the ousted prosecutors told McClatchy Newspapers.

While the U.S. attorney who got the call regarded the tone of the conversation as congenial, not intimidating, the prosecutor nonetheless passed the message on to five other fired U.S. attorneys. One of them interpreted the reported comments by Michael Elston, the chief of staff to Deputy Attorney General Paul McNulty, as a threat.

Justice Department officials denied that the conversation with the U.S. attorney ever took place, and Elston said he called several of the fired U.S. attorneys but never made any such comments.

There are Nixon holdovers in positions of power within this administration. Not to mention there are also Iran-Contra convicts like Elliot Abrams working at the NSC, and serving as one of the top neocon advisors to Bush.

Hmmm....I'm curious as to what those details might be. On the surface, these firings look 100% political. I'm curious to know if there is more than politics as usual to this story.

yeah, perhaps fabricated evidence of drug use or kiddie porn by all 8 mysteriously removed attorneys?... you'll notice Justice is quickly denying the threatening call ever existed....

Well, they aren't going to admit it now are they? I don't have a problem with them denying, that's reality. It happens everyday. It happens with pro teams, some player spouts off, and someone calls him to say shut up, or we'll talk about you too. I have no problem with that. What I'd like to know though, is why they were canned. To me, it looks 100% political. Span put a congressman in jail for 8 years. That deserves a promotion, not a pink slip.
