The Next President
Uh-h-h, I don't think so, my man.
Walter Williams with Condi Rice as a running mate. Would love to see the lefties insult 2 blacks with one being female.
Throw T Sowell in there instead of Condi, the debates would be hoot since both have an IQ double any of the pols out there.
Yeah, and I'd love to see John Edwards with Al Gore as a running mate. Would love to see the righties insult 2 whites with both being male.
Why the dems always run whites, black people don't get power in the dem party they are only allowed to vote to maintain the liberal welfare plantation.
more stereotype from our resident Archie Bunker.... liberal "welfare plantation"... could there be MORE ignorant "white power" undertones in one statement?
you're a genius...
BINGO!!! Go to the head of the class!
Are you saying that the 90%+ of blacks who support Democrats did so to support the liberal welfare plantation? I'd call that comment racist, but instead I'll just attribute it to ignorance.
I do that all the time, I insult the whole damn tribe of sore losing white backstabbers, Pelosi/Kennedy/Kerry/Gore/Reid/Clintons etc.
Bring back Tip O'Neil or Truman and I will return, even JFK.
I think that is the net efffect of their votes. The Welfare bureaucracy has a vested interest in continuing the cycle of poverty. No poverty.....no 'customers' for their programs.
Conservatives would rather see everyone out of poverty so the programs would die and there would be more taxpayers sharing the load.
I have seen black people in positions of real power in republican administrations, I have seen no similar positions for black people in dem administrations.
If you have an example by all means present it. What happened when a black man wanted to be the Speaker, he was told to get back in his place.
The last black from Massachusetts to serve in national office was Senator Ed Brook, Republican.
From Condi Rice to Colin Powell and others, the Repubs have given far more chances to blacks than have the Dems.
So you know better than the black people what's in their individual interest? That's quite a claim. Also, are "black" and "poor" synonyms for you?
And conservatives will get them out of poverty by ....?
That would be easy, an Ambulance chaser and a hypocrite.
I think that's what he's saying. I don't think such a comment is racist either. He's not denegrating blacks as much as he is merely putting forth his belief in why they vote dem so blindly.
Some dems do want people more dependent on government services. The more dependent they are, the more important politicians become, especially those who are the ones fighting to provide you with the free services.
Remember now, I said "some", and not all.
I don't claim anything. I just look at evaluate the results of policy.
Demographics are what they are. BTW it is the 'Black Leadership" that claim black people lag economically.
He libs believe in a fixed economic policy and people getting scraps from government. Conservatives (not necessarily republicans) believe in expanded growth and opportunity by reducing the burden on taxpayers allowing them to invest therir money in productive enterprises rather than expanding the amount spent on overhead (government).
A Ste4ve Forbes administration would be the best thing that could happen in this country to expand oportunity for the poor and disadvantaged (regardless of race, which shouldn't be a consideration).
That's a benign view of conservatives. Conservatives, like liberals, recognize that capitalism needs poor people in order to manage the supply and demand of labor. The real question is what do we do about those poor people, given that full employment is out of the question.
Beyond that, both liberals and conservatives believe in giving people greater opportunity. Liberals believe you do that by investing in schools, offering free college, providing daycare and other services so that people can realize their potential, etc. We have a different approach than conservatives, but frankly neither side can make a strong historical case for itself, but both sides argue that a purer form of its ideals will prove their point.
Liberals don't believe tax policy has anything to do with fairness. After all, even Forbes proposal gives a tax break to the poor and in actual dollar amounts the rich will still pay many times more than the poor or middle class for the same government services. Certainly, liberal programs like the GI Bill after WWII demonstrated how government programs can lift the economy. Some of the social service programs haven't worked well and need further investment and development, but others (like Social Security and Medicare) have at least so far addressed major moral and social needs. Helping people get educated, keeping them safe, helping them stay healthy, helping them learn new skills are far better than tax cuts to helping people expand their opportunities.
I disagree indeed many illegal aliens have come into this country to take jobs. If there were no illegal aliens there would be more than enough jobs for all able bodied Americans given the current unemployment rate (4.5%). Some people (a minority but nonetheless a sizable number0 just don't want to work, or have been convinced they can't get ahead.\
The ROI on our investment in education has not been very good, we spend a far greater % of GDP on education than we have in the past and test scores have gone down. The accountability of the public schools has been a disgrace. Healthy competition for public schools from greater available of vouchers would be a great antidote top the current poor performance of the public school systems. Of course while this would be better for the children it would not help the teachers unions and therefore won't happen.
The War on poverty has been a cruel joke on the poor and in particular the children. The perverse rules have encouraged 1 parent families and absentee fathers which has help created an underclass where children are the victims.
I would refer you to the book "Vision of the Anointed" by Thomas Sowell for a brilliant analysis of the failure of the liberal social programs, how they have hurt those they supposedly helped and the liberal response.
I would have you look at the actuarial situation of the social security and medicare programs, they are a disaster. I look at the GI Bill as supplemental pay to servicemen who have traditionally been vastly underpaid.
Tax policies have to do with redistributing wealth in the liberal view. Conservatives feel Tax Revenues should be collected fairly from citizens without penalizing those who work hard to get ahead. they also don't believe that the government should be in the business of redistributing money between citizens. They also believe that tax rates should be minimized to allow for more economic freoth and greater opportunity for all.
