Absolutely horrific play calling and coaching gaffes tonight by the Pats. They played scared all night long on offense and it lost them a game that the Pats should have won easily if they didn't play so frightened.

It was like they forgot everything that went right in the gameplans for the Rams and Broncos game because they needed to do something crazy for the Colts, and they fell flat on their face as a result.

They had a decent game plan that was working..but then we lost the challenge and burned our last time out in the 3rd qtr.

LIke I said in my rant post.. Colts had 3 starting CB's.. WHy couldn't they go deep on them.. One of the starters was on the street 5 days ago..

Madden said something that was half right.. Moss took Sanders out of the game.. I disagree, Sanders took away MOss.. And the best way to get that match up on our side is to move MOss in the slot and motion him right down the middle.. MY GOD. Horrible offensive game plan.. Just PISS POOR..

My problem was the 3rd and 16?They could have picked up yards but they ran a running play? What a joke.

They played not to get embarrased and they won but they didnt get the more important W.

This loss is on the coaches for sure. You can't pin it on Dave Thomas.

I'm one of McDaniels biggest critics but put the blame on BB.

Awful waste of challenge and timeout
Bad decision to go for 2 (even though we would've lost anyways with 1)
Not going for 4th and inches. If he didn't call TO Cassel had that easily.
    His defense couldn't stop sh!t

I agree. How dare McDaniels devise a brilliant gameplan that the Colts had no answer for! Where were the 3 and outs? Where were the sacks? That is why the Pats lost the game, they were far too effective on offense.

They knew they were in 4 down territory and thought the Colts would be overplaying the pass. It wasn't a bad call at all. Just poor execution.

My complaint is all the screens to Welker. The play wasn't there all game long and yet they kept going back to it over and over.

Having said that, our offense played a great game. 140 yards rushing. 34 minutes TOP, only 1 punt all game. Our offense drove down the field all game.

It's just too bad Gaffney decided to impersonate Reche Caldwell and Thomas got stupid. Those two plays cost us the game. A game we had no business losing.

Coaching was not the top form, but the playing calling was not horrible. Thomas's error was. If I was BB on Tuesday when everyone else has the day off Thomas would be doing wind sprints.

Thats bull!!!You gotta throw the damn football on 3rd and 16.I got sick of these running plays. The colts's defense was swiss cheese all night and this team seemed to not trust Cassel in the end!

Yeah, how dare they call a running play when the draw was consistently picking up more yards than the passing play. They should have gone for the endzone and gotten the sack. Then it would have forced the Pats to punt.

Hey Robo, give me a break. You dont keep making that call.Cassel was getting into a nice rhythm throwing the football and they run that crap. That shows me that these coaches still dont believe in Cassel including BB.

The offense, without Brady, Maroney, Morris and Jordan was able to move the ball up and down the field against the Colts, and was able to absolutely dominate the time of possession. The Patriots had the ball for more than 34 minutes. As a result, Manning and company had only 7 possessions all game.

You people complaining about McDaniels are being silly.

No it doesn't. It shows that McDaniels saw a flaw in the Colts' defense and continued to exploit it all game. The Pats offense outplayed the Colts defense. Stop blaming McDaniels and Cassel. The Pats offense only stalled when the Pats were too close to the end zone for Cassel to throw it down the field other than the Thomas penalty.

agreed.. Just a few plays go the pats way instead of against and they win..

Here is the flip side, the more conservative you play and the less "possessions" your offense gets, each play becomes more critical. If your offenses has the ball 4 times per half, you better do something with it

Moving up and down the field is all well and good come stat time but ultimately the goal is to score points.

Tonight the Pats offense played like they were content to run the play clock down but not score points while doing so.

It backfired on them miserably and cost them a game they had no business losing.

What the hell are you talking about? They lost by 3. If Gaffney doesn't drop a sure TD, that's a 1 point lead. If Thomas doesn't commit a stupid foul, the team is in field goal range and either gets the tie or the win. This team was not in position to get into a shootout with Peyton Manning. Use your head.

I'm with Deus on this one. The coaches made mistakes but were able to both stop the Colts and effectively move the ball. It's easy to second guess decisions once you know the outcome of the game.

This loss came from a few isolated incidents and overall sloppy play by the whole team.

And if the Pats offense had not played chicken **** all night long then those two play matter little as they blow out this Colts team.

Did you actually watch the game? Did you see the Patriots lose yet another member of the secondary? Did you notice what Madden was talking about when he repeatedly noted that the Patriots were running the draws because the Colts were keeping BOTH of their safeties deep?

Seriously, you people need to get a grip on reality.

I also heard (and agreed with Madden) when he said sometimes you have to dictate to the other team instead of being dictated too. We had one of the games best ever WR's going up against a street FA corner for much of the night and McDaniels couldn't take advantage of it. Shame on him!

Ok, so you just don't understand the simple football reality that was at play in this game. Let me try to help.

1.) Tom Brady is on IR

2.) Rodney Harrison is on IR

3.) Laurence Maroney is on IR

4.) The Patriots are playing Wheatley, Wilhite, Richardson and Meriweather

5.) #4 means that the secondary is littered with rookies and 2nd year players

6.) Peyton Manning was the opposing quarterback.

7.) The game plan limited Manning to 7 possessions.

    I hope that helps.

The Pats offense played like Charlie Weis' offense circa 2001. Were people calling it chicken shot back then? The Pats played ball control offense. I hope they play like this every week they play a team that is capable of turning the the game into a shoot out.

Funny, every year everyone says you gotta keep the ball out of Manning's hands. They do it tonight and people complain that the Pats played too conservative or scared. McDaniels can't win with people on this board. No matter what he does, people will blame him for something.
