This is what i think it will look like in the end...

CORE ROSTER POSITONS

OFFENSE (21)
QB (2) Brady, O'Connell------#3 QB (could be Edelman, b/c we need a 5th WR too)
RB (4) Taylor, Faulk, Morris, Maroney-----i dont think anyone else is added to this group
WR (4) Moss, Welker, Galloway, Lewis-----5th WR who also plays ST, could be edelman
TE (3) Watson, Baker, Smith-----I believe well only have three, but that thomas will be one of them
OT (4) Light, Kaczur, LeVoir, Vollmer
OG/C (4) Mankins, Koppen, Neal, Ohrnberger------BB will want another backup for the interior, add another body to this list

DEFENSE (20)
DL (5) Wilfork, Seymour, Warren, Wright, Brace----add one of Green/LeKevin
OLB (4) Thomas, Crable, Banta-Cain, Woods----Redd maybe, but another developmental OLB who plays ST
ILB (3) Mayo, Guyton, Bruschi------if ciuri (or whatnot his name is) pans out, hell be here so we can have 4 ILB's
CB (4) Bodden, Springs, Wheatley, Butler-----include Wilhite as a lock
S (4) Meriweather, Sanders, Chung, McGowan/Williams -----4 is good for safeties....it might only be the first 3 though

SPECIALISTS (3)
K (1) Gostkowski
P (1) Hansen
LS (1) Hodel/Ingram[/QUOTE]

that fills 7 of 9 spots if QB and WR are different, 6 of 9 if edelman is on final roster and therefore counts as both WR and QB

that gives BB anywhere from 2-3 spots to fill, and im thinking itll be at OL backup, another developmental LB (in or out), or to keep a #7 DL, for insurence for next yr....

I'd pencil Tank Williams in as the 4th ILB with McKenzie going down, even though their positions (WILB, SILB) and roles (coverage, run stuffer) couldn't be more different. If Tank makes the roster, he'll make it as a coverage nickel backer. We have Bruschi, Guyton & Mayo to cover 3 ILB spots for the base defense, if anyone got injured, I'd guess Seau is on speed dial.

I also think Johnson should be on the core list. Reiss has repeatedly referenced the relatively generous contract they gave him, and the fact that he's been a starter during his career whenever healthy, I think he'd add some depth to the O-Line.

i agree that Tank is our hybrid SS/LB guy, but i do not agree that his abilities will be used as a backer with coverage abilities, seeing that guyton is pretty much that....

i believe Tank's special b/c he can be a S with almost backer like run support ability....in which case i see him as being on the outside
