Apparently, we have little use for Vereen. Bolden, who hasn't played well, is getting lots of reps. It would certainly seem that we should make every effort to re-sign Woodhead. Ridley and Woodhead make a good pair.

Now we just need a "Brady is over the hill" thread. :bricks:

Chicken Little week after a win is definitely more fun than Chicken Little week after a loss.

Personally, I think an invisible RB could be a very useful weapon. Very hard for the defense to key on him. Very elusive in the open field. We should use him more often.

My bro in law, the Minnesota fan, called me from Minneapolis this morning.. apparently talk radio is exploding out there, as there is a great possibility they are heading to the playoffs...

Early on in the season he would describe the sky is falling scenario, now it has changed, good for them..

Compare to Pats Fans.com... we are very lucky fans to have enjoyed this much success for this long..

Washington was 3-6 going into their Bye Week and Shanny was supposedly going into "evaluation" mode. Now they're 9-6 and 1 win away from the NFC East title.

As for Minny, they are playing good ball. They kicked Houston around yesterday, and they could give Green Bay a battle next week. They may have to win to get in, as there's a good chance Chicago will beat Detroit. The absence of Percy Harvin doesn't seem to have hurt them, does it?

The Patriots have been competing for Super Bowls for over a decade. They are coming off of a loss to the 49ers and a very poorly played win over the lowly Jaguars. It should come as no surprise that there are people looking at the negatives.

As for Vereen, with the O-line struggling in the past couple of games, it's not surprising that Woodhead, the team's best pass-blocking RB, is getting the snaps over the team's worst pass-blocking RB.

Sorry, the "Brady doesn't care about football anymore" threads are the best. I mean these guys bring inconvertible evidence such as since Brady is married to a hot supermodel and the two seconds they flash to him on sideline sitting on the bench proves he just lacks the passion for football.

I love Vereen. Watched him at Cal and loved his versatility. Correct me if I am wrong but I seem to remember Shane being touted as one of the premier pass catching running backs in the country. We have seen glimpses
of his ability in space. I cannot for the life of me understand why we don't use him more in the passing game. I know he is a liability in pass protection. Why not send everyone deep and try dumping the ball off to him? Am I off base on this?

    My Jersey:

Because Woodhead is better in every way. Vereen isn't even faster, Woodhead ran a 4.33 and Vereen a 4.5.

Woodhead can block. Vereen can't. Brady trusts Woodhead. Not Vereen.

Woodhead has stud hands, can run/scamper between tackles and is in nearly every way superior to Vereen.

Unless the back is Adrian Peterson, avoid drafting a RB until at least round 3, preferably in rounds 4-6.

    RBs = dime a dozen

Won't argue about Danny, I think he is a great player and gets more out of his talent than most. On a swing pass in space Danny will get as much out of the play as possible. Shane in my opinion is more dynamic and is more capable to take it to the house.
By the way, I am not asking for much here, and not looking to cut into Woodhead's playing time. Your post is accurate (blocking, Brady's trust in him, etc.) Just looking for a couple of swing passes against a good pass rush to our most dynamic back in space. I bet we'd love the result.

It's hard to believe he was such a high pick and effectively 4th string behind two undrafted guys.

I don't have anything bad to say about the guy but basically drafting RBs high isn't creating value in this system. Dillon, law firm, Morris, the current guys who play all but 3 snaps. Pattern emerges.

Reliability. Quite simply Woodhead is the more reliable back at this point, and playing well.

Woodhead beats Vereen in almost every measurable, let alone including intangibles.

It's amusing that because Vereen was a 2nd round pick and Woodhead was undrafted and a Jets castoff, folks seem to think Vereen has more upside. The opposite is true: Woodhead was one of the greatest players in collegiate football history and has always exceeded expectations. So it continues.

Vereen's been invisible all season. He's got a handful of legitimate touchdowns.

The team really must have thought Woodhead would regress, since it's clear Vereen doesn't do anything better than him.

As it stands right now, he has to do a lot more if he wants to be resigned after his rookie contract. He hasn't showed much yet but i'm still hopefull.
