At one point Generals/Admirals could retire from their respective commands and the next day get hired by the Pentagon to be mentors @ $330.00 per hour, no questions asked. Some were also working for defense contractors and there was no requirements to divulge salaries..

Now they have to divulge their incomes and can only make a measly $89.00 per hour, maxing out at 179 K per year.. they have fled the nest..

It is a small step, but a good step.. imagine they could work for a company and then come to the Pentagon as a mentor to advocate for a particular defense system... certainly created an appearance of impropriety.

I support this enthusiastically. Had our gov't tried to tell former military personnel where they could or could not work after retiring, I'd be totally against it.

They are free to work for whomever they please.
