I'm sorry, but the odor that eminates from this crowd is extremely noticable. So the idea is that citizens will be given a credit card that tells them how much they need to pay for their individual lifestyle? This is some truly scary sh!t.

Every person in Britain would be given a "carbon limit" under radical government plans to limit emissions, it was announced today.

Everybody could be issued with a "carbon credit card" which they would swipe when buying petrol, paying their utility bills, purchasing food, or travelling.

People with lifestyles that are damaging to the environment - such as frequent fliers, motorists who drive gas-guzzling vehicles or people who live in large homes with poor insulation - would have to buy more carbon credits from greener individuals.

Foreign Secretary David Miliband floated the idea when he was Environment Secretary and the Government has launched a study into the practicalities of personalised carbon quotas.

Lets create another gov't credit agency, hire about 4000 people and then find offices they have to heat and cool... a rather idiotic idea..

Aside from being totally unecessary that seems absolutely undoable. That is so dumb I am stunned that it was a foreign politicial who mentioned it and not one of our own "geniuses".

Yes, we legally immigrated back in 1979. I was only 12, though, I'm 40 now, and I've never even visited since so I don't consider myself to be English - I just have a very faint accent left.

Speaking of which (and changing subjects back to national health care) :

My mom has ovarian cancer and was just started on a new drug. She told my cousin who is a top cancer specialist in England. He told her that it's a very good drug; however they can't give it to patients in England because it's too expesive. I found this ironic because NEM, and others, tell me I want old people to die because I'm against national health care whereas I heard a specific story about how the system over there would expedite the death of old people by not being able to afford the drugs.

Italy has government run, or national healthcare, whichever you prefer. My grandma, God rest her soul, the few years prior to dying, had to buy some of her own medication cuz the Italian government wouldn't spring for it. The ideology there is that old people have lived their life, and because they're old, it's their time to die. It's so not like here where they try to keep you alive so long as they can. I've seen it first hand. I've heard doctors express that line of thinking over there.

before the year is out, our own government will be voting (passing) a national ID card for all citizens... mark my words.... it will monitor many aspects of your life.... this isn't much different
