The FO Knows What They're Doing

Without a doubt, there are moves that just don't make sense. Trading up for Ron Brace in 2009, for example. I understand that Vince Wilfork's long term contract situation was a bit tense at the time, but that doesn't excuse a massive reach for a player, and there were better options available (e.g., Terrance Knighton).
Hindsight is always 20/20. We as fans have the luxury of that. That, and NO ONE ever wants to take into account contributions on ST's unless we're talking abot returners, kickers or punters. Message to the people, we have to field 11 players on kickoff and punt coverage teams, as well as 11 on each return squad. Julian Edelmen scores NEVER without some blocks.

How many returns did we allow the other team to take it to the house this year? Just Curious.

The last return we gave up for a touchdown was in the 3rd game of the 2010 season. A ko return by CJ Spiller. We've played 85 games since then without giving up a kick or punt return.

Edelman on the other hand. Has returned a punt for a TD every season except one in the last 5 year. For a total of 4. 2013 being the only exception. 2013 the only season he didn't. Amendola also had a big KO return early in the Detroit game for 81 yards that set up an easy TD. McCourty returned a kick against the Jets in 2012. Tate returned two kicks for TD's in 2010.

Fans always undervalued special teams contributions, NFL teams and BB especially put a lot of value on a player if they can contribute on special teams. Obvious example is Brandon Bolden, who just about everyone has thought would be first on the list of cuts and yet he got an extension. Also Aaron Dobsons lack of ST contribution is one of the reasons he was inactive so often

...and don't forget the Slater extension. Bolden..#3 in ST snaps. Patrick Chung, along with being 5th in defensie snaps, #8 on ST's.

Rounding out the top 11 ? #1 Tavon Wilson, #4 Chris White, #5 Nate Ebner, #6 Logan Ryan, #9 Kyle Arrington, #11 Devin McCourty.

#7 and #10 are K Gostowski and and P Allen, respectively.

Stangely there are 11 players who took exactly snaps 0 on ST's this year.
1. B Browner
2. S. Ridley
3. J. White
5. J. Garrapolo
6T. Brady
7. J. Boyce
8. K Thompkins
9. A. Dennard
10. S. Vereen
11. A. Dobson

Wouldn't be shocked if all of those bottom 3 are no longer Patriots next year. Ridley, White and Boyce are probably gone as well.

James Whiet because of his draft status and because he's a RB might stick. Still wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't survive camp.

I have seen a group of Mock Drafts proposed here and I disagree with the theme of most of them.

BB has a rare opportunity to augment his weakest position with a minimum of two high picks at the position, finally. BB has had to make do on Offense while re-constructing a sound Defense for the past several Drafts.

I predict this will be an Offensive oriented Draft led by selections on the O-line. Only then will BB acquire Skill positions for his RBBC and WRBC squads.

I could have sworn that Dennard played on ST last year, but maybe im nuts
