The End of America The End Of America: Movie

I was thoroughly frightened by the content of this Documentary, and truly hope others are as well. The path we are headed down in this country should be concerning to both Democrats and Republicans.

Loss of our liberties will, after all, affect all of us. I would urge anyone who watches this to keep an open mind, and not immediately discard the message she is conveying simply because it focuses on troubling things being done by the Bush administration.

These things would be troubling no matter which party the president belonged to. Being able to take a step back from blind party allegiance to actually see when there is a problem is a key factor in maintaining a healthy democracy.

No leader deserves our blind allegiance, regardless of their political party affiliation. Our elected leaders should be accountable to us, not the other way around.

I encourage everyone to see it. The End Of America: Movie

Here is a 45 minute promo for the book YouTube - Talk by Naomi Wolf - The End of America However this does no justice to the DVD at The End Of America: Movie

With liberals in power, we don't have to worry too much. The American left has a history of standing up to its leaders. For instance, the Civil Rights and the anti-Vietnam war movement didn't cut Kennedy or LBJ any slack; the labor movement didn't cut Roosevelt any slack. The danger was under Bush II and Reagan, when the right-wing marched in lock step with them. The American rightwing has always been obsessively promilitary, and since Reagan has shown Nazi-like Party discipline (look how every single Republican in the House voted against the stimulus bill).

The good news is that even though the Republicans engaged in a lot of legal, but unethical politics, to strengthen their political hand (by underfunding the census, allowing large generally anti-government regulation corporations to take over the media, providing indirect funding to conservative groups and cutting off funding from liberal ones, etc.), our Democracy proved stronger than such shenanigans. Nonetheless, we should remain vigilant; the right wing is very angry right now.

And angry people make bad decisions. Yes, we have to be vigilant, but the GOP seems to now be gambling on a new tact every week. This week, it's fiscal discipline... but oohhhhh nooooo, we all remember 8 years of record deficits, with their president, with their blessings! Except for their base, I think everybody is starting to clearly see the hypocrisy. It's a very interesting time to me... of course, it is too good to be true, and they will latch onto something that again legitimizes them. But they're not there yet. Just casting about in the dark, getting angrier and angrier.

If the hated Bush did something that is going to destroy America don't worry about it, our glorious new "Prince" will save us.

Yeah you have to worry no matter who's in power. And frankly, I worry that so far Obama has done the same as Bush trying to get this bill passed. "Oh we need it now, no time to read and review it beforehand." That should be an automatic no vote EVERY SINGLE TIME. You can't pass a bill without understanding what is inside of it.
