49. Beisel, Monty ILB - I might be president of the Beisel Blows club, but he did make four Special Teams tackles against Washington. That gets him a job.
50. Evans, Heath RB - Kept over Cobbs. Cobbs may or may not have higher upside. Let's not forget that these guys looked impressive against guys that will be out of work soon. Evans is also better in the passing game.
51. Woods, Pierre OLB - Very good special teams ability.
52. Spann, Antwain CB - One of the best cover guys I saw at NFL Europe. Also made two ST tackles. Makes it over Warfield and Scott.
53. Mruczkowski, Gene OL - Gets last roster spot over Chad Brown and Freddie Roach. We need the OL depth, and he's been thoroughly indoctronated in the Scarnecchia system. This spot could also go to another team's cut.

Nice job. I do think we would lose Cobbs, Smith and Stevenson off the practice squad or before they even got there.

My feeling is that Evans would be more likely to be available as a FA if he doesn't make the squad. I think Cobbs has had enough impressive plays in pre-season to make him an attractive option for teams that are thin at RB. I would rather keep Cobbs because he would represent BB's thinking that it doesn't matter what your pedigree is, if you can play and work hard, there is a place for you.

Everyone is always looking at Oline help and I think Stevenson would go because of this. AZ could still be looking for more help as well as Cleveland and many others.

I especially like your use of the PUP list to stash players like Pass. Hopefully we won't have the injuries like last year, but it's good to have guys on deck.

So I guess Klecko finally gets the ax.

I ran your numbers and had almost the same thing, some minor differences at spots 49-53 but nothing to spectacular. When you put it down on paper it is amazing how thin we are in the secondary.

My biggest gripe with your last roster was that Childress was left off - I think he's shown more than enough to make the team and think he's the Troy Brown of the future.

Hobbs is an improvement over Gay and most likely will surpass Samuel at somepoint in the near future. Geno was drafted as a CB and gives great versitility in the Secondary. But you just limited this post to the corners but you said secondary earlier in the thread. If you add in our Safeties and the dual role guys, this becomes the deepest secondary we have had in some time. Geno, Hawkins and C. Scott can all play either Safety or CB, add in Sanders as a possible Safety / nickelback (if needed) and the depth gets deeper. Barring another season of having our guys fall to the injury sniper in droves we should be more than ok in the secondary.

I tend to agree. I'm pretty comfortable with Hobbs and Samuel. Gay is good depth, and if we needed to move Wilson, There is some decent depth behind him at FS.

There is but a single guy on the 53 with whom I disagree. Chad Scott wins out over Spann.

Hank Poteat, Larry Izzo, Chad Brown, and/or Eric Warfield join the "Stealth" or "Shadow" roster. I predict we will likely see at least two, if not all four before the season is over.

I would pick Evans over Cobbs as well, but I wouldn't complain if the decision on the 53rd went the other way.



My only questions are with the Practice Squad.

I studied the Offensive line subs and Yates is clearly much better than any of the PS guys. I think he has a year of PS eligibility left. He takes one of the Stietz/Barthelmes spots. The other goes to developmental CB Spann. Corey Mayes is similarly dropped for a developmental WR, such as Kight, Mushsinski or Stone; or a pickup from another team.

Great job Dryheat. I may not be with you on Beisel and Mincey, but I think you make a good case on the others.

It's been said that BB likes veteran LBs. Can you examine the final roster you have posted and calculate for us the average age for the ILBs and OLBs.

I'm almost thinking it's even older than last years average age.

I think Warfield was that signing he just hasn't shown anything during the pre-season. But BB values versatility over all else and if he can have two guys that can play 2 positions than that free's up a roster spot somewhere else. I am confident that our Secondary will be above average to really good based on several factors.

1. We have the best DL in the league, as well as great depth. The QB won't have a whole lot of time to dissect our secondary.

2. We have Harrison back to lead them.

3. Our starters are good and the odds are against us having an injury problem in the secondary as severe as the past two seasons.

4. Guys like Hawkins, Sanders and C. Scott have some experience in the system and are healthy.

5. Hawkins, C. Scott and Geno can all play multiple positions in the secondary

6. and last but not least.....Hank is only a phone call away

1. Murc out Stevenson in- Murc has been knocked on his ass too often

2. Evans out Cobbs in- toughest call

3. Spann out- Chad Scott in- need that veteran who can play safety and cb-Spann to PS if he clears waivers

4. S. Thomas in- the guy has looked good - I forgot who I kicked out- Alexander? Mincey?

And yes, Monty does stay on the team.

Unfortunately, I don't think Yates is eligibile for the Practice Squad anymore. He's been on it parts of two years. He might be one of those tough cuts. Probably gets a job in Cleveland. Strong tough guy who Romeo would have a file on since he was constantly going up against Pats DL in practice.
