There are very bright individuals on this forum even if many of us have different opinions either agreed on, hated by or meh.

I come here posting this because I want to add some other sources that may have escaped me as I did my research for 18 days (during skool and afterwards.) I had to take 2 incomplete s to finish over the summer b/c my cousin johnny passed away in an automobile accident and I missed well over a week b/c the wake/funeral was in California he was 27.:( My father grew up in brookline and my mother grew up in San Diego... besides all of this unfourtunate happenings I was graciously given a period of time to complete my 2 essays and 2 make up finals (paper questions).

Right now I am working on the Cold War:Cuban Missile Crisis essay. I love how Khrushchev concluded that JFK was weak and lacked experience. His foreign minister even refereed to him as a bit childish when Kennedy took verbal beatings by Khrushchev in Vienna when they met.

I was just wondering if anyone has the time to look or knows of a few good sources that I might could be able to get a hold of? I really appreciate it.
This is for a Cold War Class and I am not aloud to focus on America much, but I will as i see fit b/c every good esssay shows both sides of a situation.

Have a look at this video an interview conducted by the son of Nikita.

the papers are only 6-8 pages in length.... I'll aim for 9 I enjoy writing.

All I ask for is to take a couple of minutes out of your day just to help find a source or two. I greatly appreciate all.

I enjoyed studying the Cuban Missile Crisis in college.

That was too long ago to remember many specifics re. sources. Plus, some of those may not be looked upon kindly now, as a couple more decades have passed.

I think Graham Allison had a classic take on it, but that was probably relatively soon after it occurred, sometime inthe 60s. On the Brink is one that I remember.

A recently published book on the subject that I want to read is Dobbs's One Minute to Midnight.

But are you in or near Boston? if so, I'd read one book just to get an overview (if you need it). I'd then go to the JFK Library to do primary research.

I was fifteen at the time, and after a realtively secure 50's, and the naivete associated with the absence of 5 minute news cycles.. this event rocked our world.

Living in Newport at the time, and it was said that we were a primary target on the east coast.. so we spent a lot of times under our desk kissing our asses good bye.

Prior to this there was some hysteria, primarily by the catholic church(with which I was closely involved) that were on the verge of being taken over by a atheistic, socialist government and we were all about to be f...ed.

It was a very scary time, and only a harbinger of things to come.. 13 months later Kennedy was assassinated. It was the end of all things naivete, and coincidentally we started the foray into Viet Nam.

Cannot vouch for how the Russians felt, but we were all completely on edge and scared shytless.. as we are approaching the 50th anniversary of the subsequent embargo, isn't time that this be reconsidered??.. it has had no impact on Castro, his family and inner circle.. the only folks it has impacted are poor women and chidren.

I live in Saratoga Springs NY now. My 2nd home is in Brookline. I will move to Boston once I graduate next semester. I am not entirely sure of what I want to do yet? I have a cousin in law... maybe I could be an assistant of some sort? I like digging for info. I have another option possibly and if I have to proceed in another direction I may take the library/ museum route. In this economy I'll try any of those options to make a pay check.
The green line is so convenient... I would crash w/ my Uncle who is a bachelor so that conquers me paying for rent.

Just last week I saw an interesting documentary about the Cuban Missile Crisis. Seems the CIA was working with a team of mutants or something like that and then the Russkies and the Americans turned on the mutants. All I remember was one of the mutants was wicked hot. I honestly don't know what her superpowers were, but I can't imagine it matters.

Nah SUNY Potsdam... pretty nice college town. Clarkson is next door. St. Lawerence and Canton are 15 mins at most away. I wanted to get away from home. I never considered Skidmore at all... Oswego, Geneseo, Plattsburgh, Potsdam were the 4 I wanted. State skools are cheaper for residents. I'll have 0 to pay off after school.
