    Tough day for sure....

I was in 5th grade in NH, watching the launch live on TV in the cafeteria with the entire grade. I recall complete silence for a few minutes, wondering what happened. Once it sunk in, people really lost it, teachers, students and everyone.

RIP to those on the shuttle that day.

A bad start to a crappy year: Challenger, SB XX, Buckner, Tax Reform Act of 1986.

Then, depending on your stance today, went straight to hell....or got really super magical on October 9th....

News Corporation completes its acquisition of the Metromedia group of companies, thereby launching the Fox Broadcasting Company.

I watched it in school as well. It was silence in our room as well as everyone tried to figure out what the hell happened. IIRC, the news feed was also silent.

A lot of kids actually went home early that day.

I was in 6th grade. I remember our teacher Sister Lorain, wheeled in a TV as we sat in class, and I was like "TV during class?". We certainly understood why, once she turned the TV on. RIP indeed.

I was talking to a friend at his business.
I commented that they were crazy launching the shuttle ... too cold I said.
i had this overwhelming urge to call someone and scream ... NO ... DON'T DO IT.

Still haunts me to this day ... that I thought that but the rocket scientists did not.
I don't consider myself clairvoyant ... but on that day I experienced it like I had seen it before.

If you watch the video I linked at the top, the broadcasters mention that there have been counless delays in this launch.
