Basically the nominations or non nominations that you think would lead our country to great path that lost, never nominated, or didn't even run for president.

Robert F Kennedy, Henry Clay, Eugene McCarthy and Howard Dean are my choices.

The thing I don't like about Rudy Giuliani is that he looks too New York-ee!

Just look at that face...to me, it has NY Jets, NY Yankees and NY Giants all over it...I couldn't take that for 4 years!

Because if you're from New England, you know....

    New York sucks!!

Indeed. So what better way to veil your subtle racism by playing the exaggerated role.

    We know better though.

Anyhow, the best president who never was was Paul Wellstone.

Bobby Kennedy showed enormous growth and from all appearances an understanding of the people of the country he sought to lead. McCarthy's a maybe, in my book, but we can at least be certain we'd have no Watergate presidency with him. I think the country going with someone as liberal as McCarthy would have lurched hard right and we'd just have had Reagan 4 years earlier. I'm pretty sure Reagan was the right-wing edge back in 1980, even if he'd be a liberal by today's standards.

Rudy Giuliani is the president. He's the president of 9/11. He was there man, he was there! Oh yeah... but that's it.

Besides, there are certain names you can't have if you want to be POTUS.

"Rudy" is just one of many.....

My vote would go to Ross Perot & the good doctor Ron Paul. Does he count in this?

You got Ross "there going to take my daughter" Perot... so, I'm not sure you want to do the talking.

    My Jersey:

Considering I was all of 18 at the time that's fine. My memory of Ross was that he wanted to be fiscally prudent and eliminate the deficit. I remember the charts, spending talk, and his idea to eliminate the deficit with $3 a gallon gas. Not that I agreed, but fiscal sanity is all I'm basing my opinion on. I don't even know what the daughter bit is in reference to.

Those allegations have never been proven one way or another, some say it was Republican establishment dirty tricks.. some say it was an excuse.

Later revelations indicate that Perot was deceived....

Had Muskie beaten Nixon Vietnam would not have escalated like it did, not would we have had Watergate, at least it would have been delayed. Alexander Hamilton was brilliant. A lot of the ideas which are credited to Washington was actually Hamilton's doing. He had too many enemies to make it happen, as back then it was more about who you knew then votes. I think sometimes about "what if" Presidents had served in different era's. One who would have been great was Herbert Hoover. His accomplishments were dramatic (standards) but had some really bad luck.

gee... shocking... when examining the most obnoxious RW president of the 20th century, Harry dislikes him because he wasn't hawkish enough, ... because he "didn't leave it in there and get the job done," despite 58,000 dead American boys.

    what a caricature.
