It's time for our annual frenzy of dashed dreams and public humiliation. Enter the PatsFans draft contest!

The rules are simple: The Patriots hold 12 picks in this year's draft. Name 12 players, trying to hit as many of the Pats' picks as possible. You don't have to say what round you think they'll be drafted. You can use any strategy you like -- if you're convinced the Pats will finally draft a punter this year, feel free to list the top half dozen punters.

Hitting 1 pick right is pretty good; 2 is excellent; 3 has never been done. Maybe you'll be the first?

Best of luck, everybody. (We'll need it.)

De/OLB Jerry Hughes, TCU
OLB/ILB Jamar Chaney, Mississippi State
DE/OLB Koa Misi, Utah
LB Kion Wilson, South Florida
WR Dexter McCluster, Ole Miss
RB James Starks, Buffalo
TE Jimmy Graham, Miami
TE Aaron Hernandez, Florida
RB Anthony Dixon, Mississippi State
DB/LB Kam Chancellor, VT
DL Arthur Jones, Syracuse
WR Danario Alexander, Missouri

I have been pretty good at this, but a little worried this year...

DE/OLB Sergio Kindle Texas
DE/OLB Daniel Te'o-Neishem Washington
OLB Tim Knicky Stephen F Austin

DE Al Woods LSU
DE Clifton Geathers South Carolina

LB Brandon Spikes Florida

CB Chris Cook Virginia
CB/PR Javier Arenas Alabama
S Quentin Scott Northern Iowa

RB Jahvid Best California
TE Jermaine Gresham Oklahoma

WR Arrelious Benn Illinois

DE/OLB Brandon Graham
DE/OLB Koa Misi
DE/OLB O'Brien Schofield

DE Tyson Alualu

LB Brandon Spikes

WR Arrelious Benn
WR Seyi Ajirotutu

RB Montario Hardesty
RB Charles Scott

TE Dennis Pitta
TE/FB Jameson Konz

P Zoltan Mesko

Revised version -- I've tried to sprinkle players throughout the draft to prolong the agony of wrongness.

Al Woods, DE/DT
Austen Lane, DE/OLB
Brandon Deaderick, DE/DT
Brent Bowden, P
Daniel Te'O-Nesheim, DE/LB
Deji Karim, RB
Eric Decker, WR
John Asamoah, OG
Kareem Jackson, CB
Mardy Gilyard, WR
Montario Hardesty, RB
Tony Moeaki, TE

If Hunter were still alive, that'd be his next title.

Now you're inspiring me to write a "Word Freak"-type book on the odd underworld of people who spend way too much of their time, year after year, futilely trying to predict which players their favorite football team will draft.

I'll bet you could get BB to write the forward.
