I disagree. The defense might have been able to breathe on Kyle Orton if he was here. Seymour destroyed Clady last season. On top of that, imagine he and TBC coming off the same edge and right at Manning in the Colts game.

Seymour getting shipped out was a business decision- not a talent decision.

He still demands respect from a blocking-standpoint. Only Wilfork and sometimes Warren command double-teams. Seymour opened things up for not only them, but the LBs screaming off the edge as well.

This post should be in the top banner of the forum.

It's a shame only a few seem to really get it.

The audacity occurs when some of them become determined to browbeat others into thinking they actually know what they are talking about absent any genuine basis and Belichick, though obviously in possession of that, is either clueless or impotent since he hasn't done anything they have convinved themselves and live to convince others he should have done since the day he or they arrived. NEM had scheme and playcalling and coordinator issues that preceeded this administration. Nothing ever changed that including 3 rings because they weren't won his way. Mav began to develop similar issues in 2005 after we failed to threepeat.

Neither was ever willing to consider there are a myriad of issues that result in losing and while playcalling is occasionally one of them it is seldom the primary issue. Talent and execution are generally the underlying issues and they continuously impact playcalling or the successful outcome of any play called. It's harder to break down a play and grasp why it failed absent insight unavailable to most messageboard analysts. You have to know what each player's assignment was to even begin to analyze whether his performance adversely impacted a play. And you have to have a thorough understanding of what a defense is likely to do to counter any play, what they were showing they would do pre snap and what they actually did post snap. It's easier to just adopt the rationale that the OC sucks because we have plenty of talent and if they just called a better play they would all succeed all the time.

Most of those who attempt to break down broadcast film on their DVR's understand their limitations. Most of those who can't be bothered to are just posting to drive a predetermined agenda based on what they arrogantly think they know because hey, they been watching football on TV since they were xxx (which is some cases isn't even all that long... ). Belichick has been breaking down coaches film since he was in grade school because his father was a coach. He's been coaching in the NFL for 35 years. The guys he surrounds himself with are all privy to his insight as well as reams of coaches film on snap of every team, player and coordinator in the league as well as the performances of their own team and players. Based on this they formulate a plan they believe will work if players simply execute or DO THEIR JOB. More often than not that happens here. But is doesn't always happen anywhere for lots of reasons (injury, inexperience, loss of focus or inconsistent effort, miscalculation) including because it's human nature to be imperfect.

But that's a little too complex a concept for some to grasp and those who do are mocked for being blind homers. It's much simpler (and easier on the analyst) to adopt a kneejerk approach or an agenda when analyzing a teams performance than it is to defend allowing for all of the above to be in play.

Ahhh ... the real genius comes into play when a fan guesses a record of 10-6, 11-5, or even say 12-4 and then finds all the faults in why we lost. Ummm ...:confused::confused:
