These 48 are all that are needed to play offense, defense and special teams. All units seem stronger except special teams and linebackers. The issue is how to best use the final 5 roster spots.

OFFENSE (23)
QB Branch,Cassell
RB Dillon,Maroney,Faulk,Evans
WR Branch,Caldwell,Jackson,Brown,Childress
TE Graham,Watson,Thomas,Mills
OL Light,Mankins,Koppen,Neal,O'Callaghan,Kaczur,Hochstein,Stevenson
Some would replace Stevenson with Mruc or Britt
-------------------------------------------------------------------
SPECIAL TEAMS (5)
The 5 ST specialists are clear to most, but some of us would disagree
GOST,Miller,Paxton,Izzo,Davis
-------------------------------------------------------------------
THE DEFENSE (20)
6 DL: Seymour, Wilfork, Warren, Green, Wright, Sullivan
At this point I would be surprised if Sullivan isn't kept. He certainly should be as useful as Hill was last year.

7 LB: Bruschi, Vrabel, Colvin, Banta-Cain, Seau, Beisel, Gardner

7 DB: Harrison,Wilson,Samuel,Hobbs,Gay,Sanders,Hawkins
--------------------------------------------------------------

I wonder who winds up on IR and the PS....

I emphasize the defense, of the equipment likes I much the defense that we have.

I don't think Evans is a lock, Cobbs could still beat him out. Pass will start on the PUP list.

Beisel is no lock either.

Mincey instead of Woods
Kleco somewhere
I've still got to do my Zona breakdowns, but in Atlanta, Woods played his assignments, Mincey was much rawer, if equally as talented - Practice Squad material.

brady instead of branch

Mincy makes it they like this kid he has a lot of potential.

Woods has a lot of potential also, but if he gets cut and makes thru the waivers, he'll most definitely be on the PS along with Roach.

Andrews is also a lock.

I think they like lekevin also they see a lot of potential in him also especially they are not sure if sullivan can turn it around. This kid gives them insurance, alibet he is unproven.

Let's go with your 48, that leaves 5 spots. I'd say:

Kleko - for his pass rushing abilities in the 4-3 or the nickel
Mincey - Mostly for ST, developmental pass rusher
Andrews - a bubble guy if Hobbs can return kicks
Poteat - has filled in admiralby as emergency CB and knows the system
Knight - Whether or not Branch plays, our recievers are fragile and Knight has looked good in camp

Andrews - a lock as a returner and special teamer

Chad Brown - we need his experience, although we might need to wait until after the bye (same for Bruschi)

Jones - A top, top Ster

Mincey - we need an extra OLB, at least until Chad and Tedy are back. I have Mincey, but Woods is closing fast. Mincey also have the advantage of being able to play pass-rushing DE.

Scott - the question is which Scott. I still have Guss Scott, but time is running out on him. Chad Scott is the perfect bb player, and plays anywhere in the defensive backfield.
-------------------------------------------------------------
UNTIL THE INJURED RETURN
Colvin,Vrabel,Seau,Banta-Cain
Beisel,Gardner,Woods/Mincey
This group is much, much better than last year's first half LB corp!! Believe it or not, the weakness is outside, counting on a rookie to be first off the bench.

mgteich,

Welcome to the club !

I have been saying exactly this to apparently deaf ears since TC started.

The weakness outside is merely that Chad Brown is also dinged up. I recomend a cut and re-sign in a game or three. When the cast comes off, if it hasn't by the time of the final cuts, he should be re-signed and told that that is the plan.

He can't get picked up by anyone else, if he doesn't want to, as a vet; and if he understands that a ring is in the offing, it would have to be a mighty attractive counter offer.

Tebucky could take one of the LB ST positions, (Izzo or Davis). That frees up another real LB to be kept; who knows how Seau will do, afterall? He might be truly done...

These 41 are the only ones that are safe in my opinion. The remaining roster spots are under enough contention that they could go to more than one candidate.

OFFENSE (21)
QB Branch,Cassell
RB Dillon,Maroney,Faulk
WR Branch,Caldwell,Jackson,Brown,Childress
TE Graham,Watson,Thomas,Mills

SPECIAL TEAMS (4)
The 4 ST specialists are
GOST,Miller,Paxton,Izzo

THE DEFENSE (16)
5 DL: Seymour, Wilfork, Warren, Green, Wright

4 LB: Bruschi, Vrabel, Colvin, Banta-Cain

7 DB: Harrison,Wilson,Samuel,Hobbs,Gay,Sanders,Hawkins

Fair enough. You believe that bb still has 12 or more open positions with the following additional players on the bubble, and all those competing with them: Evans, Stevenson, Davis, Jones, Gardner, Beisel, Sullivan. I chose to believe that there are only five spots still open, plus injury replacements, and possible free agent replacements.
