Trae Waynes 4.35. Top 15 pick?

Damian Swann another interesting day 3 guy with lots of upside. 4.55 40.

Jaquiski Tartt: 4.54. Good time for a 221# safety.

That's a great time. Think he's an in-the box guy though which isn't a bad thing.

Vikings at 11.

Right now a possible top half of the 1st round, in no particular order:

QB Jameis Winston, Florida St.
QB Marcus Mariota, Oregon
WR Kevin White, West Virginia
WR Amari Cooper, Alabama
WR Devante Parker, Louisville
OL - TBD
OL - TBD
DT/DE Leonard Williams, USC
DT Danny Shelton, Washington
EDGE Dante Fowler, Florida
EDGE Vic Beasley, Clemson
EDGE Shane Ray, Missouri
EDGE Randy Gregory, Nebraska
EDGE Bud Dupree, Kentucky
S Landon Collins, Alabama
CB Tray Waynes, Michigan St.

The OL position is a wild card. Brandon Scherff, Andrus Peat, DJ Humphries, TJ Clemmings and La'el Collins seem like the most likely possibilities to go top 15 right now, but it's still wide open.

A quick thought on a possible 2nd half of the 1st round:

RB Melvin Gordon, Wisconsin
RB Todd Gurley, Georgia
WR Dorial Green-Beckham, Oklahoma
WR Jaelen Strong, Arizona St.
OL #3 out of Scherff/Humphries/Clemmings/Peat/Collins
OL #4 of the above list
OL #5 of the above list
OL Ereck Flowers, Miami
OL Cam Erving, FLorida St.
DT Eddie Goldman, Florida St.
DT Malcolm Brown, Texas
DT Jordan Phillips, Oklahoma
EDGE Eli Harold, Virginia
EDGE Owamagbe Odighizuwa, UCLA
Off LB Shaq Thompson, Washington
CB Ronald Darby, Florida
CB Marcus Peters, Washington
CB Jalen Collins, LSU

That's 18 players for the back 16 spots. Odds are that someone pretty solid will sneak through to the Pats.

There's always a fair bit of movement at this time as the punditry discover who teams like: Chandler Jones, Shea Mclellin, Jimmie Ward, Marcus Smith etc.

Trae Waynes 4.35. Top 15 pick?

Would think so.
My top 8
Winston
Mariota
Williams
White
Cooper
Gregory
Fowler Jr
Parker

Next 7
Waenes
Ray
L. Collins - S
Scherff
L. Collins - OL
Beasley
Gordon

Jacquiski Tartt - 35.5", 10'4" (Very good)
Josh Shaw - 37.5", 10'10"
Damarious Randall - 38", 10' (really like him)
PJ Williams - 40", 11'

@NEPD_Loyko: Trae Waynes tied for the 3rd Best 40 time for a CB/S since at least 2006 (4.31). Only CB faster - J. Joseph, Tyvon Branch, Tye Hill, DV Dyke

Kevin Johnson is one of the best corners i saw this past year. He excels in man coverage. It would be tempting to pick him if he falls.

Lot of good zone guys, from the looks of it. Marcus Peters and Quentin Rollins looked really good in the later drills, which Peters probably needed after that 40 time. Too bad I only caught the later drills, which don't say much about a guy's ability to play man coverage, makes it hard to take much away re: potential fit with the Patriots.

Bummer that Waynes crushed the 40, there was an outside hope I guess that he might run slow and drop. Maybe Peters is the guy to hope for a drop, now.

Luke Kuechly comp for Ben Heeney. He's not at Kuechly's level but he could be Kuechly-lite.

DB 3cones are in. Justin Coleman of Tennessee is top with 6.61. Other:

Eric Rowe - 6.70
Damarious Randall - 6.83
Jalen Collins - 6.77
Byron Jones - 6.78
Kein Johnson - 6.79
Josh Shaw - 7.01
Trae Waynes - 7.06
Marcus Peters - 7.08

Eric Rowe with a very good combine. 6' 0 3/4" 205# with a 4.45 40, 1.56 10-split, 39" VJ, 10'5" BJ and 6.70 3C.

Byron Jones with a 6.78 3C to go with his insane VJ and BJ. One would have to assume he'd run a 4.3+ 40 based on his explosiveness.

@DougKyedNESN: Oh, Byron Jones also ran the best 60-yard shuttle among all positions this year: 10.98 seconds. Insanity. Wish he ran the 40.

Agreed on Jones. Providing he checks out medically, starting to think he's a first round lock if he runs 4.3-4.4.

Justin Coleman's NFL draft card. He had the fastest 3cone today. The last paragraph had me thinking he could be a possibility for us.

3.94 on the short shuttle for Byron Jones. All he needs is to run in the 4.3s and he could be the top CB come draft day; Trae Waynes is a little on the light side.

Trae Waynes' shuttle (4.39) was slower than his forty (4.31). Too linear to be a top CB?

Did Shaq Thompson stay to compete in the secondary drills?
