They should leave personal opinions out of history books. If the Pilgrims came here because of religious persicution....they came her because of religious persicution. If hip hop (i hate it) was a social influance then it was a social influance. etc. etc. etc

They also agreed to strike the word "democratic" in references to the form of U.S. government, opting instead to call it a "constitutional republic."

We are a constitutional federal republic to be exact...We are a form democracy, but we are not a true democracy. We never have been.

We have a set of rules for government(the constitutional) with a strong centralized government(the federal) made up of elected officials(the republic). All of which is a form of democracy in that we the people vote them into office. But we are not a democracy- the only true democracy in our country is the local open town meetings where the people vote directly on the laws.

    The Great State Of Texas:
They don't want goofy pasty faced liberal School Teachers showing their kids how to masturbate and put condom's on cucumbers, they want their kids to learn how to read & write.

Texas kids will learn how to play with themselves in their own cellars with a picture of Janet Reno.............:singing:

    "hi jane"
    "hi dick"
    "hey jane"
    "what"
    "wanna see my cucumber"

Tanked-as-usual's sub-intellectual whine posing as discourse belies the true nature of leftist agitprop textbooks written to satisfy progressive California.

Now that that state has spent itself into oblivion, Texas is taking over as the leading state for textbook manufacturers to cater to. One of these two states has a good future and the other doesn't. You decide.

Yet the left-wing distortions over the recent years have been legion. For example, the second-most common image in high school American history texts is the KKK. As Larry Schweikart says, this is just "sick."

People around here should inform themselves a little better about the true state of affair, can stop whining when the trends are (finally) beginning to tend back.

Amongst the confederacy of dunces, RIP J.K.Toole, there are some alarming trends.. there will be some who will defend these actions..

This is very off the wall, and beginning to believe that Texas should be un annexed.. along with all of its federal dollars it receives...in 2006 it received 6.8% of the total budget..

    US Census Press Releases

Pull out all of the military and divert the billions that is spent there to other states.. let them fund their own military, patrol their own borders.. and pay for their disaster relief..

Lets eliminate Jefferson and replace him with a non "deist".. this is pretty sick..

Blogging the Social Studies Debate IV Texas Freedom Network

    it gets more bizarre...

I'm not sure it'll matter....Texas already has the highest drop out rate in the country as well as the lowest literacy rate in the country.

Doesn't matter what's in the textbook if you either don't stay in school long enough to see it or you aren't able to read it when you do see it.

High school diploma or higher, by percentage (most recent) by state

Looks like a chicken-or-egg scenario. Are they dumb because of their books or are their books dumb because of who's writing them?

You notice how the libs here just ignore my point--backed by evidence gathered by a reputable scholar--that the current crop of history and civics texts are overwhelmingly developed by left-wing "hate America" crowd and they bring up unrelated topics?

They are apparently unwilling to face facts.

It's a great feeling not to be a liberal, they hate mother nature, they hate reality, they hate America because America allows people to disagree with them, they claim to champion "free speech" until somebody dares to have a speech they don't like, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties is only for those they say it is, the liberal version of freedom does not apply to non liberals (coulter, beck, limbaugh, talk radio etc) the liberals believe they know best, they are the protectors of all the worlds people's and the universe itself.

I say they are full of sh!t------------
