Sex Ed Teacher Answers Student Questions on Masturbation, Parents Seek Criminal Charges

    http://www.sltrib.com/ci_9424130

This is why kids have wild ideas like that you cannot get STDs from oral sex. They ask and no one will tell them.

So you think people should be allowed to break the law?

The teacher knew what the curriculum was, and decided to break the law. Whether it's a stupid law or not doesn't count.
    Does it?

I mean, that's one thing you fail to mention in your post, that the law says what the teacher can and can't say/teach in class. He violated the law.

    The Teacher Was In Heat

I can't remember anybody teaching me how to masturbate

    "mommy"
    "yes dear"
"why is that man scratching himself"
    "he's playing with himself dear"
"how do you do that mom"
    "ask your teacher"
    "ok mom"

I managed to figure things out without some teacher.
    How about you?

It doesn't change that it was against the law. You don't answer the question, do you think people should ignore the law?

BTW it was a she, not a he... there is not enough info right now to comment, except for the hysteria created by the wrighties.. I know you all have enough information based on one newspaper article... but some of us would prefer to wait, that seems the intelligent method.

Ms. Crooks or Ms. Lindsey have some splaining to do..

You're right, it was a she, typo, my bad.

What hysteria created by the wrighties though? One newspaper article, and one person commenting on it it (me) saying it was a stupid law but a law nonetheless.

What do you need to wait to determine?

When you think about it...what was there to determine? This barely qualifies as news. Nothing significant happened, did it?

Well...a sex-ed teacher broke the law by answering questions posed to her by students, the teacher has been suspended and an opportunist nut job legislator is going to try to ram through legislation that will make things more restrictive...I wouldn't say nothing happened.

But wes posted it because it fits his template.

Schools can teach math, english, science and (if it's unbiased) history. Aside from that they should leave my kids alone. It's my job to talk to my kids about what is appropriate with regard to drugs, sex, etc, not the school. I hate having to undo the damage schools do like when my kids come home talking about MMGW. Not the school's business.

On the other hand--what about those situations where kids don't get the benefit of active and involved parents?

I don't believe people who think a lot of kids don't know where babies come from. There may be a few but kids aren't nearly as dumb as people make them out to be. The incredible majority of kids know that if you have sex you might get pregnant. But if they want to teach JUST THAT fine.

The other stuff like masturbation (which I am highly in favor of :D), homosexuality (which I am highly against) and other such moral issues are none of the government's business and I don't want to have to undo the damage. My two boys are already well aware that boys don't marry boys and they have been for a long time. I don't want some liberal freak teacher telling them the opposite.

Guess you do not believe in due process.. what I do not get is that it was outlawed to teach it, but somehow the teacher pulled out teaching aids to show the kids during a class session.. so far all we have heard is the parents concerns as voiced by the kids.. have not heard the teachers side.. but then again there are those who rush to judgement and have formulated an opinion based on one newspaper article..

Where did you see in the article that she pulled out teaching aides to use?

Sex education is outlawed. What is allowed is "abstinence only" teachings. I guess the kids who decide against abstinence will just have to bear the consequences.

The parents are just some more righties who probably have large porn collections.

The teacher doesn't appear to have much of a defense against her administrative leave but I don't think there are enough hicks, even in Utah, to pass a bill to make violations of school policy of this type a "criminal offense".

Sex education isn't outlawed, what's outlawed is discussion of masturbatory techniques and homosexual sex, according to the article.

Nice bullshit generalization about the parents. Glad to see you're not a bigot at all.

    Lol I agree,

As far as breaking a law, your an idiot if you really think that just cause its a law that you have to follow it or that it makes it ok.

There are and were some really bad laws around the world and old school laws aswell.

    dumblaws.com
You have to wear underware or you will go to jail in Thailand......

Slavery is another, what about back in the day when if you were a woman and you didn't get married in time or acted diffrent they would kill you cause they thought you were a witch?

So I ask you all a Question, if they passed a law that you have to kill your first born would you?

I mean its a law, you have to follow it right????

or are you a leader? not a follower
