Who are they making room for, Peppers or Seward?

Who are they making room for, Peppers or Seward?

Does it really matter which one - they've both been hailed as saviors. :D

Maybe Gutierrez. Now THAT was a QB who could lead a drive in the preseason, something the Pats have been sorely lacking.

Wasn't he cut recently? Maybe the Patriots should take a look at him...

More on the Pats' tight end situation: The situation's tight at this position by Glen Farley of the MetroWest Daily News

"We just felt like given what all the circumstances are and his particular situation that this was probably the right thing to do for him and for the team," Belichick said during his daily press conference at Gillette Stadium yesterday.

Truth is, DeVree never really had a chance in New England this year.

From the tone of Belichick's talk yesterday, it certainly appears that at this juncture, Baker, the former New York Jet who moved to New England as a free agent on March 2, is at the head of the class while the coach feels that Thomas, a third-round pick of the Patriots in the 2006 draft, has turned back the hands of time.

A first-round pick of the Patriots in the 2004 draft, Watson has been hampered by his latest injury in a career that's been plagued by them. Smith, acquired from Tampa Bay on April 30 in exchange for a fifth-round draft pick, has struggled to this point.

They most likely released him now to give him a chance to sign with another team. I didn't see him making the team over any of the other four regardless of whether the team ends up keeping 3 or 4 TE's.

Yeah - I think it's a little of both... if he's not picked up by another team they'd grab him for PS in an instant... and he'd likely accept PS here as opposed to PS elsewhere

But regardless of what folks say about BB not doing anyone favors, he will cut a guy early to do him the service of giving him a chance to land a roster spot elsewhere.

That approach to player relations helps him in signing others in the future, so he's really helping himself.

I think DeVree could well get picked up by a team with need at TE
