The NBC crew interviewed Taylor last night and asked if he was excited with the Tuna coming to the Fins.

Paraphrasing Taylors and NBC's interview:

Taylor says "before him they had Cam Cameron coming and before him they had Nick Saban coming."

The NBC crew intimated that Taylor seemed to have had enough of Miami promises of a new day.

I do hope that is true, we sure could use him here in NE and he and TB are very good friends. So i will keep my fingers crossed.

Wasn't BB talking to him after the game?

bring him to new england!

Wasn't BB talking to him after the game?

He was actually hypnotizing him to come to take a huge paycut to come play for the Pats next year   Next in line is Bob Sanders, who BB will put the paycut hex on in a chat after the Pats crush the Colts in the AFCCG :rocker:

We have a pretty good safety named Sanders in New England already.
I wouldn't want Bob in New England he flies around so much I doubt he can keep his assignments in a Belichick, Pee's defensive system.
My first thought is to resign Assante Samuel cause any Cb we draft will cost around the same in Assante we have a proven commodity.
I don't like corner in the first round memories of Chris Canty still haunt me Ty Law aside.
I agree we need either a offensive lineman maybe a trade up for jake long.
Or a Lauranitis, Gholston, Connor pick wouldn't be bad either or the very popular trade down.
Heres hoping that Gholston has a bad combine runs a slow 40 and falls to the pats after trading down for additional picks.

Someone will shoot me for saying this but isn't Jason Taylor way too small to play in a 3-4? He is way undersized as a DL and even OLB.

6'6, 255? Our DL need to be closer to 300. If he did come he would be a pass rush specialist only when they they play the 4-3 and thats a lot of money to pay for a part timer.

I'd love to see Taylor here but it isn't going to happen now unless the Patriots pony up some serious value in the draft for him.

Uh, no. Taylor is a good size for a 3-4 outside linebacker. Plus he has great athleticism. He would NOT play 3-4 DE. He would be an every-down linebacker.

How old is he?

Trade Colvin for Taylor?

Taylor would be the easiest transitions to OLB I can think of. He drops into coverage more than any other lineman in the league and is pretty damned good at it, plus the obvious addition of a top of the line pass rusher who commands double teams.

Taylor would be a 3-4 rush OLB in NE's defense, and if you think he wouldn't be good in this role you've got absolutely no clue.

That being said I don't think it'll happen, as I doubt the tuna will trade Taylor to NE. Maybe he'll get traded off to an NFC contender, but I doubt Parcells would trade Taylor to NE. The only way I could see this happening is if Taylor ask to be traded to NE, and refuses trades to any other team.

Certainly not as a lineman. I could see him as an OLB. That would give us four, though, as I don't see AD getting most of his time at ILB. Waste of his talents IMO.

Taylor is going to be 34 when the 2008 season starts.

If he is a good fit for the 3-4 system, why would Parcells get rid of him??

Miami played a lot of close games, but even if they won those games they still were not close to having a winning record. Taylor is not going to wait (again) for the team to be an elite team. The best he could hope for, is to have maybe one year for a chance of a ring. If Miami would take a low 3rd rounder for him, I'd make that trade.

Ah, the speculation starts with Parcells barely into the job a few days. Jason Taylor's dissatisfaction can quickly be remedied depending on how he views his Miami contract and his willingness to be a team player. However, any speculation about his future is extremely premature, as Parcells is going to take stock of this team from GM to ball boys before he makes any decisions. If he really thinks Taylor is key to the his plans, then he'll move to retain Jason. If this happens, I"m betting Jason stays with the 'Phins as long as the contract works. If it turns out that Parcells decides to cut him loose, he'll attempt to get something for Taylor as his contract is good through the 2009 season. It's unlikely he'd ever let Taylor go to an AFC East team unless Parcells gets something he feels is considerable value, and that isn't ever going to come from the Pats.

Think the Colts would like to sign Taylor? Parcells might figure that any benefit the other team realizes from Taylor will be over by the time the 'Phins become competitive again. Teams will line up should Taylor become available, and those teams are likely the ones with the best chance to win now and who need a key piece to complete their roster.

If Parcells cuts Taylor outright, I'd be very surprised, no check that, shocked!

Did anyone notice Jason Taylor dropping back into pass coverage ? A DE dropping back, sometimes way back into the middle. He may stand at the line, when he starts moving, he's a linebacker. Parcells may even think of making the change suggestion himself.
