As the Eagles and the Ravens have proven, the bad football we are observing in the NFL is not a Talent related issue but rather lack of motivation on the part of the Players.

If second rate teams can get up for one game and play like they are capable of playing they can compete on any level in the NFL but on a week to week basis they do not.

From what i see there two primary factors at play in these teams not performing up to their potential.

First the majority of the players are paid an obscene amount of money to play a game and be on TV a minimum of 20 weeks per year, this actually demotivates them because they get paid and get on TV even when they are not playing up to their potential. So why play til you puke when there is nothing gained.

The second is the coaching staffs of most teams suck....While most staffs have some tactical football expertise they fail miserably in creating and maintaining Team motivation.

This is why a coach like Herm Edwards can have some success in the league for he can motivate his team but has little tactical expertise. His success comes from the natural talent level throughout the NFL.

We are very fortunate to have a coaching staff that understands ALL of what it takes to win and win consistently in the NFL.

90% of the game is mental. How else can you explain the disparity between talent levels and performance levels.

It also explains why someone like Manning throws 49 TD's in the regular season and then sucks in the playoffs. He's folds under pressure like a lawn chair.

Exactly. So how would the motivation affect the Jaguars coming to town as the biggest playoff underdog in the history of the NFL playing a team that hasn't lost to anyone all year?
